It looks extremely like thief 3, yeah. The lighting etc. seem the same as do the textures. I imagine the specs are high like Thief 3 was also, from just looking at the level of detail in the screens. All in all I'm impressed though, looks very well even if the technology is high and pricey. Be warned, if it is anything like Thief no Geforce Ti's for this one if you want a decent FPS.

I got an Invite to be an Alpha tester this past monday being I was one of the first 10 to apply for membership on the DDOL forum last year. and the E-Mail letter said that a disk and all imformation would follow shortly. Since I had made it clear last august that I wanted to be an alpha tester all I had to do was agree to the terms and submit my answer via E-mail. Also at that time I could apply to also be a Beta tester on line now before it was open to the new members of the DDOL web site and forum. I never jumped on anything so fast in my life. To get picked to be an alpha tester is quit an Honor IMHO. All because I happened to stumble on the DDOL web site on day one when it went on line. Talk about dumb luck First was Morrowind Beta in 1999 then Call of Duty in 2002 then Guild wars last year and now DDOL. It would be nice if they would give me a free game when it's all over, all this testing and still no report card LOL

It looks great this game. I didn't mean that it looking like Thief 3 was a bad thing btw - the opposite actually. And I was commenting more on the textures and lighting rather than the fact the class showed in the above pics was a Rogue .

It looks hefty technology-wise but theres a charm about it, almost as if they captured the 3E feel in a game finally. Only thing I was worried about was the setting, but if reviews come back good, I'll certainly give it a try. I don't bother with alpha or betas personally as I like to play a complete game when it is ready rather than unfinished and buggy (on top of this I hate to ruin content for myself). But anyone who does, do post your impressions so I'll know whether or not to pick this one up!
