Not a WoW Looting story, and also kinda old..

Now I'll explain how looting works in Neocron, the person who deals the most damage has first acess to the corpse, and after they break the inventory of the corpse window it's free for all..

Now, there are a number of things that can break the window, including trade requests, so you can see where I'm going..

I was out hunting at one of the outposts, I was mighty pleased with myself because I was starting to be able to do enough damage to get a chance at looting a mob if I started shooting it first.. yay.. Well, I'm happly shootin' and lootin' and suddenly this newbie shows up, he's half my rank and is not even shooting the mobs, but everytime I take one down and go to loot it, trade window opens and he takes everything..

This realy got on my nerves, so I killed him.. I continue hunting, two minutes later his clanmates come to "kick my ass", unfortunatly for them I'm much higher rank than any of them, and they all get toasted in less than five minutes.. The story does not end here..

I head back to the city, get some of the rareparts I'd collected ID'ed before I log off, well I enter the main city zone to hear my name being dragged through the mud by these newbies..

That was the start of an, interesting week, all because of a newbie loot stealer (who got caught trying the same trick on a GM's runner account, heh)

Rank, the sum of Str, con, dex, psy and int divided by 5

WoW, paladins rolling on cloth items and daggers. Or warriors. Both deserve to be shot.

I like WoW looting system, quest items are randmly given when two or more players have that quest, quick looting does not always guarantee items as someone else often gets the material off humanoids and you see what the rest of the part gets. What is not fair is when someone moans that a rogue should be splitting their pick pocket loot with the rest of the party, that is like asking the skinner for his leathers.

That's BS about the pickpocketed loot, I'd laugh in someones face if they demanded it from me.

Second of all, I TOTALLY know what you mean, I HATE those people who just sneak right past me almost dying and killing a million and one monsters take my chest that I've been killing myself for, and then waltz's right off again without even so much as a boost.

This subject is exactally why I will never should have bought this game and Why I'm going to buy Guild Wars.
When you fight in a group the game gives Monk Items to the monk, Fighter Items to the fighter, Ranger Items to the Ranger. The Items Have your name on them after a fight. Even if there are 5 fighters in your group and The sword of Power is dropped by one of the baddies that you killed the sword will say This Sword of Power is for Crimson only and God himself can't pick the Sword up off the ground and if they try their hand just passes through it and the same goes if they Kill a baddie and the sword will be laying on the ground and I try to pick it up my hand will pass through it and it will say this sword is for Spyder only and you must move along. Then as far as Quest Items if everybody is on the same quest each person will get the quest Item They need if they did the quest and held up their end of the quest. Even if they were killed during the guest because as long as one person on the team finishes the quest everybody on the team wins and is resurected and collects all prizes and quest items That said quest offered. Team Play is what Guild Wars is all about if one wins the whole team wins. No wussy punking people. The game just doesn't allow it!! EVER.

There is a looting setting in WoW that does that, CB. It is called 'Need before Greed'. The default setting works fine anyways as you roll for good loot and everone gets one corpse to loot a piece. The problem is with chests and containers, objects in the world that are considered 'fair game' and can in essence be 'stolen' from you. In theory it is very realistic as a Rogue could then jump into character and steal anothjer persons loot, but in practice they simply need to flag chests for a limited time.
