From what I can gather Warne already waived the option of appealing against the initial charge, though I think thats different to appealing against the sentence (ban).
I pretty much agree with Pangur Ban, Warne has clearly done something wrong, and should probably face the consequences of it...

I still can't believe how lax Warne must have been to take such a drug at that level of sport...

I think that might be overstating it just a tad . His taking a diuretic (be it a mistake or even to mask performance enhancing drugs) has hardly destroyed our standing as a strong sporting nation. And our attitude to drugs wasn't exactly healthy before this, witness the Ben Tune affair and the shooting guy at the Comm games. Completely foolish yes, single-handedly ruined us? Not quite

It's a weird sentence I think. If they truly thought it was being used knowingly as a masking agent they would have had to give him the full sentence. Yet if they believed his story then 12 months does seem overly harsh. Personally I think they're giving him a long sentence to show Australia is serious about drugs, bit of damage control over the aforementioned incidents plus the hooha from Dick and so on, but not so long that his retirement would be a certainty - giving him room to come back and redeem himself and get to 500 wickets.

LOL - fantastic wasn't it . If you were trying to bait me though, I should have you know that I passionately support my home state of Queensland. I suport QLD, and ANYONE playing against West Australia .

BTW - good to see the start of the footy season again - I believe the Lions thrashed your Swanettes .

It makes you wonder, if all the sledging aimed at English batsmen by the Aussies over the years, was pre meditated, or just drug induced ramblings.

Neither actually Lanesra - it was simply to exhort your guys to greater efforts - to help lift their standard such that a competitive series could boost match takings by starting to draw some real crowds .
Ouch, that got what it deserved

back on topic. Do you think there is any point in him apealing the ban? 12 months seemed fair to me. And Aelia Jusa I had forgot about Ben Tune, tho' he does not have quite the standing in world sports as Shane imo.

. Is that right your guys are touring Columbia next year.

From the Barmy Army:

Shane Warne is a spinner
He's also very fat
He went down to the chemist
And said: 'I'm having that'
He took it for his shoulder
He took it for his pain
And when the ICC find out
He'll never play again!

Of course being fat doesn't make him a bad person!
