We only keep rescue dogs, and they are the best, as Timber says. True, we do have an English Mastiff, right now, but he was a rescue, too. Choc, are you on the computer again? Did you lock Dan in the closet, again?

I don't quite understand the context of the question?
Bulldogs are just like any other dog, if they are treated and trained properly they will be very loyal companions. I have 2 Bull Mastiff's, and they are great. People are afraid of the Bulldog line thinking they are dangerous dogs and will attack with provocation, but it basically boils down to how you treat the dog.
Dogs, just like people, are all born the same. If you teach them to be dangerous and attack, they will. If you train them to be companions and friends, they pose no threat.

I don't think I could handle taking care of a big bulldog, I might take a Pug though

Two dogs I'd never want to have btw is 1)a St. Bernard (not only are they huge, but if you saw the ropes and ropes of drool that comes from them! blech!), and 2) a Jack Russell (yes that's right, a little small dog, but they are a handful man are they a handful!!! Will chew you out of house and home, will pee all over when excited, which is all the time!, will hump your guests legs even if neutered! They just don't stop!)

Barkley, my male mastif, drools something fierce. Everything is covered with a nice layer of dog slime. I know what you mean about Jack Russell's. It's almost like they've got springs on their paws, they never stop!
Barkley is neutered, and likes a good leg as well, but it's a little different when you've got a 160lb dog trying to give it to your leg!

No, they are lazy, ugly dogs. They do nothng else than sleep all day, what fun is that ? I used to have dogs, and i like em playful, not one that has the same function as a sandbag.

If'n ya wants a dog, check with Wyvern over on the W&W boards. She's probably got a border collie or two that could use a new home with someone that could appreciate them

We had some friends over on Tuesday with their dog, a golden retriever (I think). Just a puppy, but I quickly realized that a house with kids is not doggy-proofed. I have no idea how many toys were chewed, albeit briefly. So no dogs for me, at least for the moment.

Note that I don't hold this against the dog; she was just behaving normally. Our household is just not ready for that kind of normal behavior.

Give 'em a hug one more time. It might be the last.

Buy a Dog Are you out of your mind! All I have to do to add to our pack is allow my wife outside the house for 10 minutes. She picks up every stay that even thinks about looking in her direction. I've had her banned from the local pound, restraining orders issued, and under threats of Law Suits.

I was doing a remodel job a few years back and the homeowners had some sort of HUGE Hungarian sheepdog. He climbed up an 8' ladder trying to hump my leg. I had to go to the top LOL. Same dog climbed in the attic and.....fell through sheetrock into the middle of the kitchen. He wasnt hurt, but its funny! You should have seen the hole!
