Lijst Ratelband is something we'd better not discuss. The entire country knows that guy as the "tjakka man", how can we ever take him serious ? And Herben is the only person in the LPF that makes sense to me, the rest is a circus. people like Nawijn and De Jong would make great soap stars.

It's okay if a new party starts with 20+ zetels, as long as the people who actually going to sit in them don't act like a bunch of drunk hooligans.

[/QUOTE]Luckily, De Jong (Miss; 'I am the legacy of Pim Fortuyn') is no longer a member of the LPF and is currently working on her own party (*sigh, not another one). They should have sacked that Nawijn fellow a long time ago..
I can't say I like Herben, but at least he does a better job then the others upholdings Pims legacy. (well, except that bit with the Joined Strike Fighter)

Edit; Typo

I'm not a militairy specialist. But to me, it seems like a waste to spend all those billions( on Jets we have no real need of while there are more urgent problems.
Most policitians agree that Terrorism is the main enemy in this era, and since when can we use Fighter planes to stop suicide bombers.
Unless you want to take the fight to the 'terrorist states', which isn't really our job.
But like I said earlier, I'm no specialist. If the top guys in The Hague agree that joining the JSF project is profitable, they'll get no argument from me.

You seem to forget one tiny issue. We are part of NATO, part of peacekeeping forces around the globe. If you don't have a healthy airforce, you can forget about that part. And if you want a healthy airforce, what better planes can you fly than American planes ? We've been using them for almost 50 years now, and i think it's good they continue to use them, instead of using the Eurofighter, or some French or Swedish type. Also, a countries first line of defense is the airforce, therefore you can't invest enough money in it. We may live in peace now, but that might not always be the case.

Bah, with the cowardly policy of our goverment we rarely see 'any' combat. The few times we deploy fighters in a combat zone, it usually is to take pictures of enemy camps. Of course we need a good airforce.. of course we shouldn't neglect our international duty's... and of course every child is entitled to proper education, every citizen to good healthcare and a descent job. And lets not forget safety, how about those thousands of extra police officers? Unfortunatly, we don't have money for everything. So we'll have to make certain choices...
