Wow, didn't know the name of that song by POD was boom. Well, to be technical, S.O.A.D's song is actually Boom! Notice the exclamation point. And they've had f**k the system since the first album, just never put it on any of the CD's. Dunno why though.

I wouldn't really consider S.O.A.D "popular" as you so put it, i know lots of people that say they like system of a down but then only know the songs on the radio which i don't consider them fans of the music.

To clear a few things up:
"Steal this book" was written and 1971 by Abbie Hoffman, and has a sort of cult status, it was an uncompromising guide of survival in corporate america.
SOAD knew this and used it purposefully, but now in the album context.
And sorry to pedantic, but no, S.O.A.D are not technically nu-metal.. they aren't.

Aah yes, nu-metal is terrible. I´ve actually thought of building up anti-nu-metal site, but then it´s not worth the trouble and no one would visit there anyway. Popular music can be good too though.. but it's been a long time since I hear good new songs from the radios. It´s good when you can always stick with your old favourites.

There's an interesting story behind this album. The 'first-albumness' essentially stems from the fact that alot of the songs on the album were actually written way back in the late 90's. This is an album of B-sides (songs that didn't quite make the grade for being put on an album at the time they were written) and other, collaborative efforts (for example: songs they wrote specifically for movie soundtracks).

Sometime last year, the guys from SOAD burned a collaboration of these songs onto 10 or so cheap CDs and gave them out at a gig they played. Needless to say, all the songs were on the internet faster than you can say 'f**k the system* Now, after seeing the worldwide success and consumer demand for these songs, American records has decided to officially release the 'album' for commercial consumption. Hence the name 'steal this album' and the cheap, home-burned look of the official CD

Personally I'm not going to buy it, as I was one of the guys who downloaded the MP3s earlier on and burned my own copy Come to think of it, I'll think I'll put it on now...
