for those who don't think the sniper is a terrorist websters dictionary defines terrorism as : the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion, and sn't that exactly what he's doing? striking terror into the hearts of those who live nearby.I live about 2 hours north of where it's happening, and I'm freaked, I know I'm not in danger, but I know the kind of power a sniper rifle gives a psycho like this, and unless he screws up he'll be nearly impossible to catch. If he stops and fades away like an intelligent person would once he's gotten away with it thus far, he'll most likely get away with it.

Is he really USING terror? Isn't he just creating it? I don't really see him using the fear he's creating for anything, not to coerce anyone or such. In my opinion he's just some psycho who gets a rush from killing and sick stuff like that.

it is very different here. i grew up not very far from a city, not big, like baltimore or anything, but bigger than our states capitol (pa.) manye ppl died for some violent reason or another most everyday int he city, but i never for all the times i went there, heard a shot. i've never heard live gunfire. many of us who ahve not been at war, who have not seen anyone shot down, are scared. like morgie said we only live 2 hours north of it but we're scared. i have friendsin md, i have no idea how close they are to it, i haven't heard from them. anyway, like i said yeh we're scared, and i'm kinda upset at being called a coward. very offended. i'm sure that's not what you meant to do, but it is done. i will hide in a hole, i will not endanger my life and my childrens lives. i like living. you go out and tackle the meanie....you obviously are not a coward like the rest of us!

Like Neb stated, being brave is all well and good, but this guy can still take you out. He doesn't care if you're being brave. He doesn't give a damn if you yell at your neighbours that you're gonna openly walk down to a petrol(or gas to Americans) station and not flinch when someone suspicious walks by. He'll shoot whoever he wants, regardless of whether they're being brave. Being brave won't get this guy caught. As to him winning, you want more people dead just to show him that USA is one bada$$ country?

I don't mean for you to take offense to this but the society in LA is definatly out of control if it is the way you describe it. If people in that community or city allow thugs and gangs to go around shooting everything than something is very wrong. Let me ask you who are the real cowards? The people in LA who may know a next door neighbor or friend whos involved in a crime but refuse to report or confront their friend just because they don't want to get involved and endanger their own lives, or the people of the DC area who would not hesitate to give any info they can or even place themselves in harms way for that of a neighbor to stop this guy. Courage is meaningless if you do nothing with it. That is why even a meak coward can become a hero while fearing death, if they know they can save another. Wishing to protect ones family is not cowardly. What would most families in DC do if they lost the bread winner in their family? Would the almighty US government take care of them sufficently or compensate them for the loss or just place them on welfare, or give them enough to get by for a time? Let me ask you this is it fear or just being careful? When you were in VIET NAM did you hide in the cover of the trees and grass when possible or walk in the open as an easy target? Did you ever kill soldiers of the enemy quickly and quietly with their backs turned so they could not sound an alarm? Should I call you a coward for these things? No, you were a soldier and did what had to be done. To lose ones life needlessly is fool hearty, and you did what you did to survive and come home. Just thought I would give a little different perspective and I have only the utmost respect for vets such as yourself although I do disagree with your opion of residents in DC.

Crimson - Well I don't live 60 miles away, I live right in the middle of this crap, and personally I'd rather put safety over pride, and I don't feel like a coward, it's called self-preservation. I'm not freaking or panicking, but am certainly thinking about where I choose to shop at, and keeping an eye out on my surroundings at all times when outside, because you simply just don't know where he is at any given time. I know some people who ARE really afraid in a big way, much more than I, but I understand and feel for them, as everyone is different when reacting to this type of situation, and I don't think any less of them for it. Of course I'm the type of person who cares about other people's feelings. [img]smile.gif[/img]
