Vampire: The Masquerade is excellent! Well chosen Warhammer. However I must say that I've never made it out of Prague as I find the interface/controlling of the game to be extremely awkward and clunky. I have found that sustained, large-scale fighting sequences (such as the battle with the nosferatu in the catacombs beneath the cemetary, which admittedly I am yet to complete) are incredibly difficult to manage due to the game's '2D inferface in a 3D game' control method. But otherwise it is an excellent RPG. You should check it out Sio!

Wow, Hierophant...I didn't think I'd find anyone out there who is into Ultima 7 as much as I have been. I started playing the Ultima series since Ultima 4 way back in the days of the old 16 colour CGA monitors and 286 dinosaurs. I think I was around 9 or 10 at the time, so you see, I'm a lifetime Ultima fan as well.

The last of the Ultima series I played was Ultima 9 which pales in comparison to U7 IMHO. It was kinda sad when the game ended though. It marked the end of an era in a way since Origin Systems got bought over by EA and what with Richard Garriot leaving the company. They sure don't make games like they used to.

No, they sure don't make games like they used to...
I'm the same as you, I started out on Ultima 4 on my old Atari 130XE, then moved backwards to Ultima 3. I was about 7 at the time, so I'm a young-starter like you Things really took off when my Dad bought a PC and we got Ultima 6. That game had to be THE most innovative, technologically developed CRPG ever (in relation to what technology was available at the time). Great stuff.
I bought Ultima 9 a couple of years back, I still havn't completed it (in fact I havn't even gotten past Moonglow). I thought it was the most God-awful hunk of dogsh*t I've ever played. It's just not an Ultima in my books (and this is coming from a man who really really enjoyed U8) Ah well, I still crank up U7 every so often to get an Ultima kick.

Think quality gaming...think Gamecube [/QB]
That's what i'm talking about! Although i'd leave out the Super Monkey ball as I haven't played it yet! Two reasons while i'm getting a gamecube for Christmas, and don't forget the other Zelda!

Yea, U9 was kinda crappy. The appearance of the Avatar's old companions were lame to say the least. Didn't feel like the old Iolo, Shamino, Dupre etc. The game itself was littered with bugs. It was as if the folks at Origin Systems were in a rush to publish it without really testing the game first.

Heheh, I know the feeling, when U5 came out, I thought to myself, things couldn't possibly get better than this. Even though the graphics were nothing more than simple stick figurines and blocks, the gameplay was awsome! More than I can say for the majority of recent games available right now.

Surprisingly enough, I enjoyed playing U8 dispite the absence of any old companions. It was dark, dank and gloomy....The atmosphere really worked well. The spells were a treat too. Especially the Necromancy ones.

Well, I guess I'll stop here. I could go on forever about Ultima and I think we'll save that for another thread

Still, always a pleasure talking to another Ultima fan!
