This is no simple issue; I believe a balance must be found. going too far in *any* direction is... not right. just my thoughts.

There is a lot of debate over what is pornography and what is art. I live in Canada, and new laws were introduced to protect children (a good thing) but they go too far (a bad thing). To me, child pornography is anything that shows kids in a sexual light. But under the laws as writen, if I have a nude picture of my child on the way to the bathtub (or even in it, really) that is now considered child pornography. The cliche "bear-skin rug" photos are now technically pornography. That's a bit much. I agree, obviously, with preventing child pornography, but a simple nude pic, or painting, should not be categorized as such.
I agree with Arnabas if you are on a hollyday with your small children and you and your family are on a bathing trip to a lake or something and you take some pictures to have in your album then that IS NOT a child pornography so maby the law maker going to far in this case!
I dont think the laws her in Norway is so strange!

In reply to those saying that they won't sign it because it goes too far, wouldn't it be worse if it went too short? I would rather have too STRICT laws about pornography of all kinds than too LAX laws about it. Especially child pornography. I'd sign it, but I'm not a US citizen. Or is it for non-US citizens as well?

Arnabas, do you have links with info on that canadian law? I never heard of it, when was it passed?

I agree with you on every point. Heck, half of of the Vatican's walls would have to be covered if they had such a law (cheap pun intended)

I hope that in this new attempt to ban child porn they will at least try to make a difference between pedophilia porn sites and art.

NO! NO! My nephew is running naked! get it off me, get it off me! i don't want to be arrested.

Best solution: everybody needs to be drapped in dark clothes from head to toe. Those talibans, they know how to live.

Flibulzbuth:
I read about it in the Gazette some months back. I unfortunately can't give any quotes. I just remember it because I thought it was excessive. I remember reading it and thinking about how my parents could get in trouble because they have pictures of me in the buff from when I was about 6. Totally innocent pictures, but because you can see "certain parts" they are considered kiddie porn.

I opose this, it makes the adult sites even more easy to acess that way Segregating the melting pot that IS the web, defiles progress and oposes intigration. We already have people trying to make a "black" internet and a "genter" internet, I'm sorry but that is just WRONG. It's down-right UnAmerican! It's Anti-Democratic aaand Anti-World for that matter!

It goes against the world as we know it, hence I must say that I formally OPOSE this 4rth propasition... It will not be done, as long as I live on this earth! You go ahead and try but you can't stop the Internet, you just can't!

I have to agre with /)eathkiller on opposing this one. I also want to toss in my 2 cents about it. having a ".adult" or ".kids' web tag is ABSOLUTELY NO REPLACEMENT FOR PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY !!! We wouldnt need there micro management laws if some of the lazy parents out there monitored what their kids did on the internet. It is NOT the governments job to raise your children!!

A little out of topic but still related.

There is a software called "Mail washer". It actually scans your incoming mail topic/subject before arriving in your mailbox. You can select wanted mails/spams to be "bounce back" or "delete". Getting rid of spam has never been easier.
