it's both pathetic and desperate, Mordenheim...lower than posting fake stories to *poke* Americans' feelings toward their military...don't ask me where it comes from, only they know.

As are there just as many willing to disreguard it because it came from FOX, But then I guess that some bias is better then other bias.

Didn't you know that Fox News has a look-alike for Brig. Gen Brooks that they show in place of the Centcom briefings every morning in order to insure that we all get a dose of "the real truth the way Fox wants it shown"?

Let's not even touch their embedded reporters with the live video feeds with the audio to go with it, the audio that tells us what is happening while we are watching it...the same video that every other news station seems to get their hands on somehow but without the audio so that they can roll it in loops and guess what is going on, never getting close to what actually happened.

Did you by any chance catch the CNN reporters "on the scene" in Tikrit a few days ago?
"There are no republican guard anywhere!"
*camera pans around empty desert"
"There are no Fedayeen!"
"camera pans around empty desert"
"Oh, there's a checkpoint!"
*camera pans to front, indeed they are approaching an armed checkpoint*
*They attempt to blow the checkpoint*
*gunfire*
"We're under fire! We're under fire!"
*continue speeding past the gunfire aimed at them (Hello...for blowing the checkpoint maybe?) *
"Tikrit is NOT safe! Tikrit is NOT safe!"
*end of broadcast*

This is not made up, I saw it with my own eyes on CNN...when I told my room mate about it (he was in the next room on his PC) he said "Then it's really true?! I am sitting here reading about it right now on DU and I can't believe people would be so f**king stupid!"

Believe it...

EDIT: Sorry for spelling Brig. Gen Brooks name wrong...I'd also like to add, Davros, that I watched the Centcom briefing this morning and what Mordenheim related to the story is what he said (unless that was his Fox double, who also made an appearance on CNN, the station I watched it on.*snicker*) (Fox usually interrupts the briefing minutes before it is over if you are wondering why I would dare turn my channel to CNN)
I saw that and laughed my ass off, did you see the CNN security truck blow past the reporters when they were being chased by the other car shooting at them? The reporters, after having made the wise choice of entering Tikrit ahead of the troops and blowing a check point, were driving only about 70 MPH while a car behind them was shooting at them. "Hale" they were in a big SUV with a big V-8 but instead of putting their foot on the gas they decided to drive slow enough for the car behind them to keep up until they ran out of bullets.

I am sitting here in amazement. They just can't get past fox. What was posted was a direct quote from CENTCOM found from a Fox article. Fox had ZERO to do with that quote.

......

2 + 2 = 7?

LMAO, No, Sir, I missed any more of their "on the scene reporting" when I turned the channel.
LOL, I guess it does in some parts of the world.

I watched it live, I try to every day so that I can separate the official from the speculation. I know that what you posted is a lot of what was reported by Brig. Gen Brooks regarding the incident.

Also, according to Brig. Gen Brooks, from what he knew about it this morning, that people in the crowd had firearms. He also said that an ambulance showed up with a loudspeaker to drown out the military's loudspeaker, which was trying to calm the crowd, to use that loudspeaker on the ambulance to further incite the crowd and that's when the situation turned violent...shots were fired into the air by the crowd, warning shots were then fired into the air by the military and then aimed fire was directed at the military personnel. He said to another reporter later (in response to who was being fired at by the U.S. military personnel, people in the street with firearms or people trying to scale the wall), that one of those people in the street had an AK47 and that they had been shot in the legs.

It's not like those portions of the briefing haven't been replayed throughout the day for reporting purposes either....unless other stations refuse to air or even view Centcom out of fear of hearing the truth from the U.S.'s point of view (and he did say that the incident is still under investigation).
