That's the spirit! I wish all wagers of this war (on the US/UK side) would hold similar sentiments.

Timber's right...That commander, and really, most British, do have a knack for bringing out the beauty in the language. I saw bits of Donald Rumsfeld's Address to the Troops, and, even though I'm a supporter, I have to say, I wish that his speech had been even half as eloquent, passionate, and moving.

I heard it reported last night that the Stars and Stripes had been raised over Umm Kasar (sp) and I knew at that time that it was at odds with this speech. I saw a photo of the flag in place this morning. I understand that it has since been lowered and removed, and a statement has been issued by the US forces that is in accord with the excerpt from the speech. Basically it said we are not here as a conquering army, we are here to liberate. I think that this message is a great one to send to the world, even though there was a brief missed step overnight.

Any Iraqi soldier who is crazy enough to keep fighting better pray to his God that we don't send the Gurkhas in.
As it was mentioned, I thought I would provide a bit of background info for those that don't know - the Gurkhas' (brigades of nepalese soldiers) preferred weapon is the Kukri, a fearsome weapon that they use to decapitate their opponents. They are generally regarded as efficient, skilled and totally fearless. [ 03-21-2003, 10:31 PM: Message edited by: Bardan the Slayer ]
