Z, I have seen you say that people who support or defend the reasons for the attacks of 9-11, or look like they support, or even for the sake of intellectual argument, who post accordingly, are not welcome here.

Did I get that part right?

I also remember you saying that we DO NOT have to bend over to be nice to folks who make such posts, and that we SHOULD support our friends and family in uniform, like Turbovee and Hellfire, and my little sister Josslyn, who have voluntarily placed themselves in harm's way to protect the cherished freedoms of OUR constitution.

Did I get that part wrong?

I have supported IW in more than one way, Z, and I find this to have a suprising 'cooling' effect on my ardor. Am I one of the folk you R speaking of? I have not been exactly restrained in my support or scorn, depending on what has been thrown against the wall in here to see if it will stick .
I have not always cared about the persons' feelings who have posted unfeeling(IMNTBHO) comments about the war or it's antecedents.

May I make a suggestion? Perhaps the best way to avoid heated posts here would be to remove the 'richard gere' type trolling posts? - After all, that is only in accordance with the guidelines you have already posted.

Curious to know - please edgumakate me on this? thanx

I know you wanted Z's opinion but I'll give you mine.

Why would you want to ban (or delete) the posts who ask for peace and understanding. Posts that point out that vengeance is not the option. That's what Richard Gere was eluding to in the Concert for NYC. If you asked me, he was right and very level headed. However, the reaction that he got was also very predictable given the crowd in attendance.

Now, let me ask you. Would you prefer a board where members can present both sides of the coin and debate or a board like this:

Initial post:

"I think that GWB is on the right track and should go and bomb the crap out of Iraq"

and then 27 replies that essentially say:
"yeah, man, we gotta show Saddam that we rulez", "Kill Saddam and all his damn friends", "Screwz Saddam, Bush is right" or simply "yeah, I agree".

Not much of a discussion board if you ask me. No, it's good that both sides are allowed and able to present their opinion and their case. Going against what's being done right now doesn't mean that you support Bin Ladden or other terrorists. If you're in doubt, go check this:

Also, I think that Dio was on the right track here:

Ummmmmm, was my joke thread considered an attack? I'm a little fuzzy on where the line is drawn these days. That's why I"ve been trying to stay out of it.

I have no problem with the rules at all! I've been asking for respect and courtesy to be shown too. Maybe now it will be.

The forum is a good place, Z, but sometimes I think people just get carried away and forget that they are dealing with a lot of different people who see things from different viewpoints. They also forget to read twice before submitting I bet!

Sir K, as someone who made a few points about it, and didn't like it at all, NO, absolutely not, it was not considered an attack!

You had a perfect right to post that thread! I had a perfect right to say, look, I didn't like this because..... and so on. No problem whatsoever dude.

I am NOT with this suggestion at all. Posts which make the case for peaceful resolution of conflict are not trolling posts. If you quash all views which do not march with the mainstream, then essentially you are disallowing free debate. Plus, Monsieur, you will have an extremely boring forum, with loads of people just patting each other on the back. Surely that can't be what you want? Or is it?
