It's still to early to know what targets were hit with what weapons. I'd bet that the cruise missles were used on radar, SAM instillations and other vital targets. B-52's dropping cluster bombs on area targets like terrorist training grounds. 50 cruise missles and 15 bomber and 25-35 frighter sortes is a really small response, compared to the opening round of the Gulf War.

The difference Epona is that we warned them repeatedly.
We do not knowingly target civilians.
We are trying to keep the death toll to a MINIMUM.
The reports say that at least 50% of the civilian population had
left the cities before any of this even started.
We are after the Taliban and Bin Laden, not the people of Afghanistan.

The alternative is to do nothing. To sit here and let them bomb buildings, blow up who ever they want, when ever they want. We can't do that. We can't bend over to every jerk-off with a grudge or a hatred of us. Not when they target our civilians on purpose. Intending to kill as many as they can.

I don't like this anymore than you Epona. Honestly I wish with all my heart that this was a bad dream. But it isn't. I don't want to see innocents die. But what are we to do? How are we to do it? What can we do that we aren't already doing? We didn't ask for them to start this. We didn't ask for this. We wanted to live in peace. We trusted that they did too. But they don't. They had ample warning. We as freedom loving people have to defend ourselves.

This is a military operation. Collateral damage has to be expected. You can't blow up a building with a 2000 lb bomb and expect no damage to other structures. We are using the most acurate weapons in the world. We are trying
to have minimal collateral damage.

I pray to god that this ends soon, that he look out for those in harms way, that in the end we all find the peace we so want.

I totaly agree. Everyone like to call the US terroists, but if this was to happen in another ocuntry the prople there would be ready to get the bastards just like we are! Oh yea how many terroists drop food to the "innocents"? Please people the US is totally justtified.

Actually, the more Osama bin Laden shows his lack of sympathy or respect for the American OR Afghan people, the less faith people will put in him. The longer the Afghan people suffer as a RESULT of the Taliban AND Osama bin Laden's defiance, the less support he will have in the long run. The longer he hides, runs, and avoids conflict, the less weight his threats will carry and the less clout he will have as a Jihad leader.
If its hearts and minds, then thats exactly what the US is doing, because they're sending in humanitarian aid to the Afghans, while telling the world that this is a direct result of Osama bin Laden's actions, cowardice, and defiance. Thus the people of Afghanistan blame Osama bin Laden for not "saving" the people and running like a dog while a nation he claims to serve suffers because of his actions. They blame him for not sticking it out with the people, and for not taking responsibility. In hiding and running, he loses his chance to become a martyr and shows his face as a coward and a man who exploits Afghanistan for his own private vendetta.
