Professional sports and college sports cheerleaders are usually 18+, but High school/Jr. High cheerleaders are 12-13 up to 18+ (back home we had cheerleaders for the 7th and 8th grade sports where the players and cheerleaders were typically 13+ but a particularly bright kid who skipped a grade could conceivably be even younger.
I just wish parents groups had taken care of it at the local level instead of trying to get legislature to do their job for them. Simple enough for a parent to do, if the cheering squad is doing something you deem inapropriate, pull your kid and complain to the school board.

For people who claim to be against big government, these people do a HELL of a lot of legislating.

Perhaps they're only against big governments if the other side is in charge.

Bah. I see the issue like children with toys, if theres a disagreement it's always better to deal with it before a parent gets involved, because once they (parent/gov't) get involved, nobody is going to be happy with the end result.

LOL Stratos. This is Texas though, the other side is never in charge, and the careful redistricting helped take away what little power they had. Tom Delay is my hero
![]() Cheerleading starts earlier than that in my experience Morgeruat. They have cheerleaders for pee-wee football, here anyway, which puts them in the 6-12 range. And ditto on Morgeruat's practical method of dealing with school-sponsored activities you disapprove of. It's certainly faster, and has the added bonus of not imposing your will on others (other than your kid, but after you pull her out of the squad she won't be speaking to you anyway). I'd like to hear from our president on this one. He can speak from experience as a cheerleader right? ![]() |
