Might not have to: Pope given last rites.

The article says it doesn't automatically mean he's dying, just that he's seriously ill, but seriously ill at his age IMO means he wants to go catch Mitch Hedberg's routine live.

Timber, that might be the most offensive thing I've ever seen you type, even if it was in jest.

Question Mark

krunchyfrogg, stick around the CE more often and you might amend that statement at some point. Besides, saying things like that might push Timber into coming up with something even more offensive, just to see how far the boundary can be pushed.

by the way, will the Pope's or Terri's feeding tubes be for sale on Ebay anytime soon, I wonder?

Look, all jokes aside, I respect the Pontiff. He's a great man and a great scholar and leader. I was joking about the feeding tube -- just being meeeee -- but really, I absolutely respect his resolution to suffer through physical crisis and continue to do his appointed job. I've read small tidbits about his boyhood and lifelong friend, a Rabbi, and his many efforts to analyze the divergences and convergent similarities of world religions. I may (certainly) not agree with many of his opinions, but that in no way detracts from my respect for the man. I hope for him that he has lived or will live long enough to fulfill whatever duty he feels he has to a higher calling. In fact, I wish it for us all.

Amen to that.

I might not be the most devout of christians, but I know a good man when I see one.

He is a great man.

I recall a reading about a time when there were 3 active popes, but not one actually stepping down... must be getting out of touch with my religion studies...

Pope Suffers Heart Failure But Still Conscious

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope John Paul appeared close to death on Friday after heart failure and breathing problems, but was still conscious and in a stable but serious condition, the Vatican said.

Spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls said the Pope had received the "Holy Viaticum" communion, reserved for those near death, after a sharp downturn in his health overnight. He told his aides he did not want to return to hospital for treatment.
