Cerek, I think my main problem is that I've been lurking the Something Awful forums lately. Seriously, you should see their debate section one day - there's not a single post without sarcasm, irony, wit or a certain playful offensiveness in them, and yet people still seem to respect one another a lot more than seems to be the case over here on occasions, if you manage to look past the hypocrisy that's often prevalent in IW debating.

'sides, I'm growing increasingly tired of the circular nature of debates over here - and anything to spice it up a little without resorting to direct flames is okay in my book.
Add to that the fact that I hardly have time to post either way (thanks to my studies, work, sports, helping to organise several festivals, and the stuff students usually do ), and there you have another reason for my changed, more light-hearted and frivolous posting style.

I'd love to agree with that sentence, but we haven't seen the same thing in many of the second generation muslim families here in the states, many of them see themselves as muslims who happen to be living in America/Canada/UK, not citizens on these countries. Seriously, though, if those families are still living in the States a couple generations from now, their kids will probably be almost indistinguishable culturally from other American kids. Maybe it's different in Canada, but I know plenty of children and grandchildren of immigrants (religious and non-) who are Canadian to the bone and don't see themselves as anything else. I myself am almost part of that group, except one generation farther along. I'd be lost in any of the countries my great-grandparents came from, with the possible exception of England.
