Seriously, though, I don't think they will be able to show a duty, damages, causation, or foreseeability. Maybe they chould show causation and damages. But, it was not at all foreseeable at the time, and no duty was owed to the slaves at the time under the "reasonable person" standard -- they were simply chattel. Fault by Lloyd's would be determined by looking to what was reasonable at the time.

This kinda of crap comes up every so often. About three years ago a representative form Memphis tried to push a bill throught the Tennessee State Legislature, that would have required the State to pay restituation to all descendants of slaves in the state. It was tabled due to lack of support. Imagine that.
Caused quite a furor in the press though!

Yeah, your right there. But at one time Affirmative Action was a very necessary thing. But I have to wonder if now it's out lived it's usefulness.

Of course, at some point you quit may restitution because the situation/condition has been.... erm.... restituted, for lack of a better word. The question is when, of course. The SCOTUS just last year opined in dicta that it may be another 20 years.
