It's a shame that Edwards dropped out of the race but I don't mind John Kerry. Heck, I think he has a better change of beating Bush than someone like Howard Dean.

Oblivion, you can keep wishing but I doubt that the Libertarians will ever get into power. Thank God .

I'm thinking a grassroots campaign and massive press will do the job. The right combination, plus the adverts and the push, and people would do it. If voter turnout was at 90% in the next election, and no Republican or Democrat won, that would be so excellent.
Heh heh. And how would you fund such a massive campaign? Who would be your 'sponsers'? And what special aggendas would your (hypothetical) presidency entail in order to keep them happy?
Bi-partisan politics are a joke.

Question Mark

Unfortunately, I doubt the election this November will be close, except in those states hit the hardest by the current economy. That is, unless Bush manages to commit some horrible act tantamount to political suicide...such as keeping Cheney as Vice-President.

What would really be fun would be to have an independent candidate backed by a billionaire and for said billioniare to offer $100 to every person who votes for the independent. How many registered voters exist? 100,000,000? Ok, suppose 100,000,000 voters with a turnout of 45% (which would be pretty good for an election); this becomes 45,000,000 people. If 45% of them vote for the candidate, then that means 20,250,000 votes, which should be enough to secure the Presidency. That's only a little over $2 billion, definitely within reason for the 10 richest Americans. Even if the price tag rose to $3 billion, is that too much to pay for having a President on your payroll? For that matter, get Corporate America involved: Citigroup has over $1 trillion in assets, certainly it can afford $10 billion to buy an election. By the way, is it illegal to sell your vote? If so, why? After all, it is simply an intangible service that you are willing to offer in the marketplace...and I thought we were capitalists.

Back on track now....isn't the nomination process similar to the Electoral College? Isn't it time we do away with those silly things? That would ease the process of choosing candidates and make elections more accurate, or wasn't the fiasco of the 2000 election evidence enough that something has to change?

Yeah, no kidding -- the last thing we want is a government that teaches us how to accept responsibility and simply leave each other the hell alone.

But, didn't I just see a add on blahoo that a guy named Gore had a so so % of making the election this year.

Just face the Facts. Bush for 4 more then you all can have Hillary for your next front runner.

You may joke, but sooner or later that lady will run, and she will be a force to be reckoned with. As I've said before, she very well could be our first female president, if she were a woman.

Everybody has numbers concerns. Kerry camp seeks a 30% share of the votes in the polls as an indicator. 30% of votes to a libertarian would be a landmark.

For Bush the numbers are easier. 5 supreme court justices should do.

I honestly don't think I could stand another 4 years of Bush. I also think that it's very foolish of you guys (no offense) to make immidiate assumptions that Bush is going win when the election is many months away. This just makes things even better if Bush loses, it'll prove how wrong you guys are. I'm sorry, but for me it's more important to get rid of Bush than to have Hillary Clinton as the first female president.

Bush has an approval rating of 50%, so I see him having a 50% chance of getting reeclected. His ratings will rise or increase depending mostly on how he runs his campaign. I pray that it won't take another 4 years to show people how bad Bush is handling the economy. If Bush does win, then I'm sure the Republicans will be crushed in the 2008 election.

Loftis, I'm assuming you don't like the Libertarians. Most people dont't, so most people don't agree with their views. Oblivion is one of the very few. How else that explain them getting less than 1% in each election?
