It's Isle of Wight - most obviously and outrageously touristy place I've ever been. I was conceived there by the way (allegedly). That fact is quite true, although I suspect it would be a bit unpleasant and crowded. Kinda puts the whole 'is the world overpopulated' argument into perspective.

Did you know that in Texas:

You can still be hung for stealing a horse.

When they let you out of a Texas Penal Institution they have to give you a horse $10 and a shotgun. (Today its a bus ticket as your horse. Personally Id rather have the horse so I could sell it and keep the cash and buy my own bus ticket.) At least thats the law thats still on the books. The shotgun was for you to be able to hunt and kill a meal. I reckon the $10 was for a saloon and any "services" it might offer as well as a few shots of whiskey.

You can still be arrested for spitting on the sidewalk.

You do not have to have a permit to carry a concealed firearm if you are carrying $3,000 cash on your person.

Jane Austen wrote 6 novels - Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion.

Emily Bronte wrote only 1 novel - Wuthering Heights

Anne Bronte wrote 2 novels - Agnes Grey and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.

Sorry, I don't know how many Charlotte Bronte wrote... too many for me to keep track

Hmmmm... searching on Google was futile, too many websites on World War 2. However, from what I still remember, due to the immense stress on the soldiers, who did not want to die and thus dare not sleep, their body went extreme and adopted the sleeping style of fishes and birds. It was not permanent and lasted only as long as the stress.

Maybe it is not a case of total lobe shutdown, but a 50% reduction in brain efficiency in both lobes? *shrug*

Yes, I think that's it. I do recall hearing something along those lines! I wasn't saying you were wrong about only half sleeping, just that it's not a lobe/lobe split in humans

If aspirin was put on medical trial now, it would fail, due the negative effects it has on your stomach

Not only aspirin, but digitalis, fails to meet the "new drug" criteria.

Hereward the Wake was rumored never to sleep at all, but I think that is folklore.

"Fish and visitors smell in three days" is the only saying that is present in every language in the world.
