Moiraine, I think it depemds on your son, but I don't think I would have made the most of such films if I saw them before 16/17. Actually a lot of these classics I have only seen in the last 3 years, so I don't know really what to recommend, but I would say wait.

Eight years ago, I house- & child-sat for my friends. Doug (age ten, at the time) invited over a good friend of his, the same age. They were talking about how tough this movie was, & that movie was, and how they were as cool as the heros from the movies.
I realized, these kids had NEVER seen a real, harsh movie... The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly The rest of the weekend, they wore blankets as serapes, whistling the tune... We rented the rest of the "Unknown Hero" movies... BTW, Moiraine, have you seen the final scene in widescreen format? As you mentioned, it has all three facing off in a circular cemetary. In the full screen version, seen on TV, you only see one man at a time... Widescreeen, you see them all... Very powerful. ------------------ The RudeDawg Known in these Forgotten Realms as Perin LightEyes |

He ... no. Old westerns can't be seen in cinemas anymore ! And even if they were, as French cinemas almost always show dubbed movies ... Baaah ! I hate dubbed movies, most of the time the voices are just awful (except for Sylvester Stallone and Bugs Bunny ).
So you think my kid would enjoy "The Good The Bad and The Ugly" ? ------------------ The world is my oyster ! [This message has been edited by Moiraine (edited 04-30-2001).] |

Remember, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly was originall shot in Italian, so I've only seen it dubbed.
I think anyone would enjoy that movie... ------------------ The RudeDawg Known in these Forgotten Realms as Perin LightEyes |

No prob' for Italian voices , if it is subtitled - besides, Italian is a Latin language as is French, so I can understand a good part when people speak Italian (standard Italian, that is, not local dialects ... )
Then I think I will give a try to watch the movie with my kiddie - but I will stop immediately if he starts to get bored ! ------------------ The world is my oyster ! [This message has been edited by Moiraine (edited 04-30-2001).] |

I have that movie on VHS but I haven't seen it. I have had it for about 2 months. Gosh, maybe I should watch it tonight.
My boys are 6yrs and 4yrs and I let them watch some Western movies. Mostly John Wayne movies, my husband loves those movies. I love North to Alaska. ------------------ Draconia, Dragon Queen |
