Isn't Kingdom Hearts more of a children's game? Not that I'm downgrading your choice, but that's what I always thought.
Well, it has disney characters and worlds in it, and some parts of the storyline go along with the movies, but for the most part its like a real time final fantsasy. And a lot of the characters are actually from final fantasies

and after seeing this thread and reading about the second game i decided to start playing my friend's copy of kingdom hearts (he loaned us his ps2). i'm not very good at console games. i haven't even left the starting island yet. seems like a decent game. but from what i've seen so far i kinda agree with the game's wiki entry, the two worlds don't seem to mesh together too well. "Some also felt that, whilst original, the combination of Square and Disney did not work as well as it could have, with aspects of both the story and gameplay swinging between 'Disney-style' and 'Square-style', without reaching an acceptable middle ground for most of the game." but like i said, i've barely started maybe that'll change.

but as for my vote for best game - i'm quite partial to full throttle. great story, music, animation, voices.
dawn of war is coming a close second now. i'm relatively new to tabletop 40k and this game is really fun.

No offense, but if you haven't heard of these it's because you were born at the middle of the shift to VGA graphics. Lucky for you, most of these games can be found dirt cheap, and I'd say most are better than FF7 at least. Most of the RPGs named are fairly open-ended, leaving you to roam wherever you want. Going by your profile, I believe Daggerfall came out when you were 3

I'll divide mine by genre. No need for apples and oranges comparisons.

Real-time strat: Dawn of War
Strategy: Master of Magic
RPG: Fallout 2
Simulation: IL-2 Sturmovik
Shooter: Rainbow 6 series
War: Combat Mission: Operation Overlord
