Speaking of which, when is the release date?
Darn... haven't played the demo. I got no CD burner at work, and no download capabilities of that magnitude at home. And, the file size is too much for my 256mb flash drive. Darnitall. |

I see that it's out already. The gameplay is similar to Warcraft 3? Then I suppose that the storyline will be like warcraft 3 then.

Yeah, it's out already.
I completed the single player campaign and really liked the game. I'm not really a fan of multiplayer rts, but I hope they make an extension with another single player campaign.

What's your view, Luvian? How long was it? What armies can you play?

Well...
I really liked the voice acting, and along with the intro, it really helped set the mood of the game. In multiplayer you can play as either the Human, Chaos, Eldar or Orks. I don't know if you're familiar with the setting, but the human are Marines, the Chaos are serving an evil god, so their units range from Undead, evil marines, cult fanatics, demons and such. The eldar are a race of psychics. The orks are orks... What's great about this game are the units. Instead of building units one at a time, you build squads. For example, a marine squad start out with 4 units, but once they are deployed, you can reinforce them with up to 6 more marines and one lieutenant. You can also attach either a medic or hero to the squad. Also, you can give them some heavy weapons. Each weapon has it's strength and weakness. If a guy die, you can reinforce the unit with one more to replace him, if he was using an heavy weapon, you have to give him a new one. At first, I equiped my squads with flamethrowers, and made short work of regular infantry. The first time I saw a tank my troops died horribly. So now I make sure I have units armed with missile launchers at all time. Units have both health and morale. Once their morale affect their will to fight. a Unit without morale is very easy to kill. Some weapons, like flame throwers, lower moral very fast when used on the ennemy. You have different type of squads. Scouts can sneak around, and you can give them snipers and plasma guns. You get units with jetpack to fly over obstacle, you get units better at melee and other ar ranged. You get vehicles... You also have concelements, put your units into a crater or behind a hill, and they are less likely to get hit. Put mines in front of your hiding place, equip your squads with rocket launchers, and watch the fun! The game has lots of strategy. Each races have their strength and weakness. For example, almost all Aldar units can become invisible and warp around the map, but they are the weakest. I think I spent about 3 hours per map, but I'm the kind of guy that like to eavily fortify my base, build the biggest army possible, and then humiliate the computer. Oh! What's really cool is the way the human send their base and units on the planet. I just love seeing a big case get thrown from orbid and carsh on the battlefield! Thanks for the detailed review, Luvian. I'm familiar with the WH 40K universe, I have numerous miniatures -- including an ultramarine army and an eldar ulthwe army. SO, sorry for not letting you know that.
What races can you play on single player? |

Well, in the single player campaign, you are the marines, and in my opinion, they are the funniest to play.
You can play multiplayer maps alone using any races if you want, but the campaign is marine unly. Until the expension...
