Hm... I did manage to finish the game (wasn't easy). Especially the last mission was especially frustrating. The EC has a Huge Ion Cannon in place that will blast you to pieces the second you get in range. The key to this is taking a ship with a cloaking device, but then you lack the firepower for the second part of the mission.
