Beoulve, you are so overreacting. Considering the huge fan base of FFVII, you cannot claim that the game is horrible, nor that it is over-hyped. Opinions are great, but you're not being very social anymore.

And why Sephiroth is great: when playing the story of the history of Cloud, you get to fight alongside Sephiroth. When attacked by Dragon's-Breath of an Emerald Dragon, he shrugs it off and receives NO damage, because he so heavily infused with mako-NRG. He then proceeds to slaughter the dragon with two well-placed Masamune-Slashes. A big Sword? No, the Masamune Blade is THE epitome of skill and combatprowess. The Masamune blade is the ultimate weapon for Auron in FFX. That was done for a reason you know.

Furthermore, Sephiroth is one of the best designed darker characters in the history of anime. His garb, his hair, the green mako-glow in his eyes, his speech and movement: it all adds up to being "the coolest baddy". And as Kakero said, his music is THE best in the entire game.

You honestly think that the Masamune (Ma-sa-mu-ney, phonetically, for those that still think it's masamyuun) was the final weapon of Auron simply because it's the weapon weilded by Sephiroth?

I take it you haven't ever played Crono Trigger, Final Fantasy 4, or just about any other FF game, let alone the hundreds of games where it is mentioned or the ultimate katana of some kind.

Do you know anything about the creation of Katana swords? In ancient Japan, there were smiths that would spend roughly an entire year forging a sword. They fold steel and overlap it so many times, that it becomes incredibly, incredibly strong (and also very heavy). Your average katana overlapped 100 times. YOur average English longsword, by contrast, was done about 6 times, if I remember correctly. ANYWAY, the single most famous blacksmith of all time in Fuedal Japan was in the Masamune clan. Katana names such as Muramasa comes up quite often, too, for the same reasons.

AHAHAHA. SPeech. Right. I suppose I'm the only one in here that sees how bland of a translation that Sony gave FF7? It was not done by Square, btw. The Translation, that is. The game, yes, the translation, no.

EVERY CHARACTER uses the same speech patterns. People then point to Cid and Barret. I say, "Just because they swear, doesn't suddenly make them use different speech patterns. Cid and Barret sound an awful, awful lot alike as well, I might add."

And as I said, a character should never be liked just because he "looks cool", or good music is played around him. Besides, as good as the FF7 tunes were, I've heard much, much better in video games. (I have a link to the extremely awesome Hard Rock soundtrack of Guilty Gear XX #Reload, if anyone is interested.) Ben Affleck is considered one of the best looking men alive, and yet pretty much every single one of his many movies sucked. As I said in an earlier thread, Sephiroth doesn't have anything on Alucard, anyway. Even Dante, with the really, really crappy sequel he was totally retarded in, is still cooler design-wise than Sephiroth.

What are you talking about? Translations? Speech patterns? What does one thing have to do with another? Every steroetype character has indeed a certain speech pattern. Dante has one. But suddenly Sephiroth's pattern is bad? That doesn't make sense at all.

Hay, man, dragons are cool but they also have flaws. Such as Smaug, which the one scale missing. Plus, I know a dragon furry girl online who is awesome. I guess I'm a bit biased.

Does Dante talk like every other character in that game? That's what I'm getting at. It's just so bland to read anything Sephiroth says, because the reading level of it is barely 1st grade level. I honestly suspect that Sony hired some guys that just started learning English to translate the game as some sort of project to help them learn.
