Looks like someone cashing in on the LOTR name, all the reviews i've seen have been pants.
Also, I would steer clear of Icewind Dale 2, buy any of the other Black Isle titles instead. It's the only one (except Planescape) that I couldn't be bothered to complete, the rest I've palyed through 3 + times, not IWD2, it's far too linear, like Diablo or NWN.

I too thought the game was crap and kicked myself repeatedly after downloading it. I can't say that i was dissapointed though, as i never expected it to be a game that i would enjoy, much less buy. But i just had to ease my curiousity. Curse my curiousity!!

Both Icewind Dale games are linear. That's the point of the game. When they made Baldur's Gate I and II, they made them as an outdoor exploration game with roleplaying elements. When they made Planescape, they made a game that was all about the roleplaying elements. When they Made Icewind Dale I and II, they wanted to make a dungeon exploration and hack and slash game. They even used that as a selling point.

You can't expect all games to be made the same way, that would be boring. This is not "Baldur's Gate III, a trip to the north". So it should not be like Baldur's Gate.

The lotr 2 towers game on ps2 is pretty good, but it isn't a rpg just a good old hack & slash action game. Some of the cut scenes from the movie are pretty good especially since we have had the game for 2 months but the movie only opens today.
