Well, I was really thing of just RPing it, but I don't want to be crippled by the fact the developer kinda shafted the armor. My new character is a combat-melee mix, dark elf btw, so yes, its either light armor or medium.

GOTY contains the Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansion packs, if I'm not mistaken, so the Medium armour I mentioned should be available to you.

I go for a bit of both, although admittedly this often involves what looks cool as opposed to what is essentially good armour but ive never had any problems

In all honesty, Morrowind isn't a tough game for a seasoned gamer. A couple of potions can get you out of almost any scrape, so I wouldn't worry about Medium Armor being a tad disadvantageous. Again, we see another quality that makes RPing in Morrowind so wonderful !

You can move fast when your athletic skill or speed is 100 and aboves. So it's no worries when you are higher level in the game.
I was talking about der uber boots: "Boots of Blinding Speed"

Yah, I know, der uber boots aren't mentioned, but I thought pretty much everyone (minus hardcore RPers) used those damn things.

I thought most people would not use that boot because of the blind effect ( except for 1 quest in Mournhold ). Sure, you can use spells or potion to counter the blind effect but it still very very tedious job. Plus it's a light armour IIRC. I prefer heavy ones.

I held on to those boots for awhile, using them for routes where basically you know where you're going (Vivec canton to canton, Seyda Neen-Balmora...etc)
By just using the map without even having to negate the blind effect, they can be incredibly handy...can't see why they'd cause so much aggravation really.

But I was rather poor at one stage and sold them off, since they're by no means essential.

Brayf expressed it very nicely there: The game shouldn't be too difficult regardless of the armour you go for, there's always additional compensatory aces up your sleeve in the form of potions, buffs, magic items, uber-daedra weaponry...etc that should give you the upper hand.

My Dunmer Assassin is currently using glass armour with some dark brotherhood greaves for purely aesthetic reasons. Even when I find some glass greaves, I'm not sure I'll want to change since the black and green blend so very well.
The glass helms are awesomely majestical too. It gives my character a kind of unearthly asexuality in the way it shapes the face and grimly enhances the eyes.
