Not as long as I did. Explored half of the wretched island. I gave up and recalled to my mark point, and ta dah, I got attacked by the bearer of the seeds... he was in the most obvious place, perhaps the only one I had overlooked

But of course, the reward for completing that quest series is really sweet. I have had to train the governing skill, but the item is really great. Will help you a lot.
