I haven't been playing long, but I have been concentrating on spells, and weapons ( mostly shortblade ) I had to clear a bounty on head for accidentally murdering someone. escape was difficult, I was stuck with a slave who, now is dead, which I regret, but will not go back to a save before I took the quest, just have to see how the guilt wears on me, but I was on a quest and another and another, I think five, and I was almost to the completion of one when I started another in the same place, then I had to ask a theif for his dwarven arifacts, I was told to bring them back even if he denied. Well I grabbed them from the chest, and, needless to say The mage and the theif didn't like it much, the thief was always a possible casualty, but I didn't even know the mage. So sad. Anyway I took eveything I could carry, cleared the bounty on my head, and now every time I speak to the person who cleared the bounty my little likey bar thingy goes down. I figured too bad, lost a friend, gained a friend, but what if I need him again, He won't talk to me and he's down to a 13 on the meter. Hey, you pay to play, in gold, and blood. Anyway, long story, short explanation, please, be warned friends, multiple quests, without all knowledge, just trying to get a few things done, can have dire consequences. Now I am watching my back for assassins. I just wish I could rent one for some of my Orders I currently have five marks to take out, they are not nice.

I did what I wanted to of the guilds...topped out in Fighter, Mages and Temple, could have topped out in Legion, but decided not to topple the head guy as he didn't seem bad...didn't get far in thieves, as I didn't *like* many of their quests. I did the Blades quests every once in awhile, just to keep the flavor in. I've now selected the great house and will do those now.
The temple's Ebony Mail rocks pretty nice

I tend to alternate quests with world exploration. I'll pick out a chunk of hte world, say the coastal area from south end of seyda need (that inlet) to hla oad on the outside of all the ranges.. the cover it an do all the mini dungeons along the way from start to finish. Then I'll go back to my notetaker program and knock off any quests that I feel inclined to go after along with any that seem to lead to that area. Then , quested out for a while, I'll go pick a city I have transport to, and explore thorugh the shops and loot houses as I choose, noting new quests in the notetaker program. Then wanting to just kill for a bit, pick out a new chunk of turf. And so on.

This first pass through I'm an imperial, Breton, and doing all those factions (ImpCult, ImpLeg, Hlaalu, Mage, Thieves, Fighters guilds). On my next pass I'll be a wanna be native Dunmer and go for Telvanni, Temple, Morag, Camonna (if available)and possibly an Ashlander group. I dont think I have the patience to go thorugh it a third time.

PS that notetaker program is the incredible Lotus Agenda, first published in 1988 or so. Fits on 4 floppys, dos text based, and the original SIMPLE stab at what eventually became lotus notes. It lets you enter text items as you run across them whilst separately building up a tree categorization structure than can be applied to the items on the fly in views. WONDERFUL for when you're still learning what the world looks like and who the players are.
