Larry Silverfall

Larry had falen asleep an hour ago, listening to the newfound friends discuss things over a crackling fire. The day's walk had been exausting for him, and sleep was not hard to find. Within his dreams however, he remembered that he had forgot to warn the other team about the dangers of the land to the South, but dismissed his worries, as they were probably seasoned men of valor that knew how to handle themselves well enough. Then his dreams drifted through the mind's shadows, reminding him of a life he had enjoyed long ago. Sadness crept into his dreaming heart as he realized that he might never have a son or daughter if this plan did not work. It had to.

To the Candle Team

The surprise attack was horrifying at how close it had come; however what was more surprising was the rescue.

A brown dragon had risen from the sands and had charged at the man on the horse, as horse meat is particularly favored to brown dragons...It had been there the whole time, waiting for the ambush, but when the horse had come close, the dragon could wait no longer.

Yet at the same instant, lightning had blasted down from the sky, striking the brown dragon into stopping the attack on the horse, and turned it's attention skyward. A blue dragon was hovering there, already swooping in with talons extended to rake at the brown dragon. The brown dragon now was totally ignoring the prey it had missed, and was concentrating fully on the more prominent danger. It leaped aside as the blue came in, then turned again with it's head and bit at the escaping blue. The blew recovered from the dive, but could not manuver fast enough to get away from the quick snap from the brown. Now being forced to bring the battle to the ground, the blue once again readied his breath weapon, aimed, and shot white hot lightning at the brown. The brown knew that it was overpowered by this much older and wiser opponent, but would not give up. It had just as much right to be here as any dragon. The brown charged, taking the shot of lightning but determined to attack.

Also...I have posted enough into the fight that any shock or fear that has set into your hearts at suddenly being surrounded by two dragons has subsided and you can now react. I suggest running, but do whatever suits you.

Arcades rests near the fire, seeming like a moving mountain of dulled gold scales that only slightly sparkle in the dancing firelight. He dreams of old times, when the Gold Dragons were a healthy breed and spanned whole lairs.

Now though, they were a dying kind, almost wiped from the earth by the Chromatic Dragons and mortal beings who seek their glistening scales and magically aligned body parts. Dreams, it seems, are the only place Arcades Sabboth can truely be happy.

OOC: For those who dont know much about dragons, they are typically divided up into two categories, Chromatic and Metallic. Chromatic dragons are evil things with no love of Humans, Elves, Dwarfs or anyone. Metallics and kinder, and more concerned with wisdom and justice.

Andrion Wilgor 58/60

The sudden appearance of two dragons sent him into a state of shock and it was only after the first breath attack that Andrion started reacting. "We are not prepared to fight them now. Run!" He ran over to his horse but then realised that some of them did not have horses and cried over his shoulder: "I can take someone who does not have a horse on my horse."

Roderik

With the roaring and blasts of acid and lightning from the dragons Roderik leapt back into his saddle and shouted above the din, "Get on your horses, browns prefer them as food, and are less likely to breathe on us is we're on horseback, and low, the blue although less likely to care whether anything is left of us to digest, has a better chance to win, and will work harder to kill the brown and come after us, than to stop us from fleeing.

The nearly paniced horse, Shadowspawn, galloped away glad to be moving away from the wyrms, as the bard sang out*,
"Wise, Wise, Wise sir Rodie,
when dragons reared their fearsome heads
he bravely turned his tail and fled.

Wise Sir Rodie turned about,
so gallantly he chickened out,
bravely taking to his feet
he beat a very brave retreat.

The blue and brown can fight all night
for we shall flee in awesome fright,
To see the sun rise is our goal
and not be fried to chunks of coal."

and on the song rose in perfect timbre and pitch as the horse fled past the battling wyrm's on to safety.

OOC: *sung to the tune of Brave Sir Robin, from Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Silt 80/80

Although Silt prefered to walk or run rather than ride on horseback, he decided maybe this time the latter was more appropriate on this occasion. Jumping on Andirion's horse they fled.

Andrion Wilgor 58/60

Andrion's horse Windspeed was faithful to his name. As soon as Silt had jumped up behind Andrion the black horse leapt forward and away from the battle of the two dragons. Not too far ahead they could see Roderik on his own horse. Only looking back occasionally to watch the progress of the battle of the two dragons Andrion urged Windspeed to an even faster pace. As they got closer to Roderik Andrion caught the last words of the song he sang:

To see the sun rise is our goal
and not be fried to chunks of coal.

To Both Teams:

The night passed with no further interruptions. Morning had dawned and the campfires have been extinguished. The day is still young, and both teams are close to their goals.

Candle Team:

Whatever you decided to do last night after fleeing the dragon dual is fine with me. You could have rested in a secluded area or you could have marched on all night. Whatever you guys agree upon. I suppose the first person to post has the right to call that shot. As the sun rises, you see the mountains closeby. A half of a day's journey will get you to the base of the giant towering mountain that separates the good land from the one that the Shadow Mage owns. Nature becomes quieter the closer you get, as well as any signs of life. It appears that even the fertile land packed up and left this place in fear of the Mage's power.

Necklace Team:

Morning dew makes the forest glisten as we each awake from our slumbers...if sleep was required for your character. Larry has informed the crew that they are within a few hours of the hideaway where the artifact can be found. His cheery mood and bright entusiasm seems boyish and wild, but nevertheless is encouraging to others.
Any sounds that are heard would be woodland animals like birds, mostly.

Larry

Larry readied his bag and grabbed a sprig from a mint plant that he had discovered to chew on to cleanse his breath for the morning. Leading the way, he motioned the party onward.

OOC>>>Arcades: From here on, what form will you take to venture through the dense foliage of the forest? Is one of your size still able to manuver well, or would you fly above or will you return to elven form? Post your answer in-play.

She quietly grabs her pack and staff, adjusting SpiritSword at her side, and lays a hand gently on Arcades before slowly following behind Larry, Virtue bounding along at her feet, occasionally looking back at Arcades, wagging his tail.......

Roderik

After fleeing the scene the party had run for about an hour before stopping, finding shelter, and resting up for a few hours, not enough for a true camp, but just enough to refresh the minds and bodies if the intrepid adventurers, Roderik stayed awake, telling tales of mighty Wyrms in battle, rending the flesh from would be heroes, leaving little but gnawed upon bones, or piles of ash when they were through, and a story of one ancient Wyrm that had been brought to a terrible fate by Larry's servants, between the fearsome creature called a bonespawn, and an odd level of Larry's tower it had transformed the ancient Red into a rabbit as it sought to breach the tower in a quest for revenge against a vile thief. It's final fate was unknown, and none had returned to claim it's treasures, whether that was due to the wards in it's cavern, the creatures return, or perhaps it's volcano errupting, and burying the horde, no one could really say... but the temptation of more gold than anyone could spend in a dozen lifetimes still lured adventurers out to it's abode, even now. (ooc the events in the tale are recounted in full, in the first LoF game, as well as a spin-off game - the Search for the Stone of H'r Rrkackm Yh'ead (or something similar))

To lighten the mood Rodie then told a tale, of the far south, where white dragons ruled the ice floes and few men dared to live. "A penguin, mighty king of the frozen south, brave and true learned the ancient arts of Peng-Fu from a human travelor, a northland monk skilled in the arts of combat. With his training certificate in hand, the penguin assembled his waddling countrybirds into a force of great power, and made war upon the scattered chaotic dragons. The squawking might of a thousand penguins made war upon the great white Frostedwheat, known for his sleek white back, and browned belly (tales speak of his love of lying on his back watching the sun, and it is because or this that he was both near-sighted, and suntanned).

So surprised was Frostedwheat by a swarming mass of penguins that he was still laughing when they had pecked through his soft underbelly, and couldn't pull himself away from the angry biting hordes of black and white waterfowl. Armed with confidenc, experience, and a good amount of ill gotten treasure, the penguins decided that they had gotten lucky, and sailed north on an iceberg, so that if there were any mini Frostedwheats they would be far away should the descendants decide to come after them. Peng-Fu is still known as one of the most effective yet absurd looking martial arts styles known to men or birds.
