Near the Ley Line
As the woman works her enchantment upon the dragon the giants stand unmoving watching her movements with a studious care. The soft humming of their blades keeping curious time with her movements. Their eyes are careful to note as well the wounds the dragon has received from these wolf-like creatures and the manner of his movement with pain. The flight of the woman and the dragon away from this place is a narrow thing for their opponents reach the place where the dragon lay mere seconds after he his wings have carried his tired body off the dark soil. They note the direction of the dragon’s flight and turn their attention to these other ravening creatures whose frustrated rush to kill finds expression in a howling monotone. As the numbing notes of the howl reach their ears, the giants tighten their grip upon their sword hilts and the humming of their blades changes its key and they stride forward. A strange intelligence burns in the dead eyes of these curious howling creatures, however, and aware of the ineffectiveness of their howl and of the flight of their real prey, they turn rapidly and set off in pursuit of the dragon and the woman. “There is much to be done,” the first says to his companion. “Yes,” the other replies. And his eyes following the flight of the dragon and the pursuit of the wolves, he adds, “And much to consider ......” [ 12-17-2003, 12:11 AM: Message edited by: Cyril Darkcloud ] |

ruby looked up from her hands. her stress seems to increase at every turn or moment in these caves. if truly given her choice she would run away. but she knows that the hunger would just continue, it would catch up to her some day.
"i guess he left. i didn't see him go, i was distracted. wyrd says the whole place smells of grimlock, he can't determine where gnob may have gone. perhaps the shadowy elf would be a good place to start....once we get out of this cavern wyrd may be able to pick up his scent, but only if his trail differs from the army's. i propose that if we cannot find his trail right away to go slwoly behind the army and perhaps wyrd could find his in time." ruby straightens herself out, and clutches a hand to wyrd's mane. "if you are ready...." she gestures with her hand for ana to walk beside her. OOC:larry my character is actually human ![]() |

Morguerat
The creature began making strange motions with it's hands, I think it wants me to follow it, to lead me to a trap no doubt thought Morguerat, perhaps it can help me with... what did I need help with again, I lost something, something that isn't my name, this being may have part of the answer. Lowering his sword completely the man mimicked the walking motion made by the spider-creature moments before then spread his arms wide hopefully the creature would recognize it as a question of "where are we going" the addition of a 7' long sword probably didn't help the peaceful image he was trying to convey, but it definitely gave the correct warning. |

As Arcades sleeps, she fingers the clasp in her hand looking thoughtfully over the valley. Narrowing her eyes, she notices motion near the area they left. "We cannot return there..... ", she whispers as she watches the giants intently. A small breeze flows up the cliff face, her cloak flapping back and forth softly, as she looks once again at the clasp.
A small thought nags her from the back of her mind as she holds the clasp up in the dwindling sunlight........ Smiling, she removes the clasp currently on her cloak and replaces it with the cloud clasp, gently closing it shut. She stands as the last light of day disappears over the horizon and strokes the stone in her staff. A soft silver light emanates over her and Arcades as she begins to weave a camoflauge ward over them to hide them from sight for the time being.... Terrakis
He pays no attention to the serpent maned hag. To the extent that she has any usefulness at all it is as one defeated, afraid and hungry for revenge. He and his brothers simply ignore her as one not worthy of notice. Word of what has happened here shall travel quickly in these lightless tunnels and upon hearing it, those that would think to oppose him will gather their forces, and so all proceeds as planned. He draws his own blade, now and a clamminess like that of an old tomb fills the cavern. Suddenly he turns to the defeated Euryale, seizing her by her serpent headed mane and nearly snapping her neck so swiftly does he jerk her up from where she lay. She screams in pain as she hangs in his grip, and her cries intensify as the biting dampness of his blade cuts into her arm. The pain of the cut shoots through her body, assaulting even her thinking, and soon she is aware of nothing save the pain and a strange chilling dampness with her limbs. “It is said,” he sneers, “few things are so deadly as the blood of the medusa. Bleed, then, and coat my blade with death.” Once more he tosses the creature aside indifferent as to whether she lives or dies. “We have taken what we need here let us be away from this place.” His words are commanding and immediately obeyed. The giants gather their spoil and step into the shadows and are gone. |

For Morg and Zach...
In the ocean, a spot of blood can be found by a shark miles away. If one is unlucky enough to be in the area at the time that the shark arrives in its bloodlust, well...that is unfortunate for that one. In the underforums, there are such creatures as those that can taste the recently dead from the air from far away. It is how they survive, using thier keen senses to detect their next meal. The smell of death now lingers in the caverns of the third floor, where two unsuspecting humans try to find communication with one another. How unfortunate for them that they are to be found in the middle of the plate for dinner. The first thing that gives one warning that carrion crawlers approach is the rank, fetid odor that accompanies it. Then the scurrying of many legs on the floor, the walls, and the ceiling. Then they can be seen. Four of them have been close enough to find the carrion, and they scurry towards the meat, but then the two humans are spotted. A carrion crawler never attemps to eat until all the prey has been successfully paraylized, so they all charge the two humans. With their sticky tentacles leading the way, they quickly approach their stil-moving prey in order to immobilize them. OOC>>>You have been attacked by four Carrion Crawlers. I am sure you know their attack patterns. Good luck. You have spotted them in time to take action first. [ 12-17-2003, 05:39 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |

Euryale
She lays on the floor, broken and beaten. The dream of domination has been stripped from her, the army she commanded has been destroyed. There was nothing left for Euryale anymore. A once powerful and much feared creature of power and might...reduced to a whimpering and broken waste in the sight of a giant named Terrakis. His power is great. Greater than anything she had ever encountered. Such a creature did not exist from any history she had ever known of giant-kin...one that looked and acted as he. He was something more, as if a mad mage's spell or something had twisted him into the fell beast that he is now. Euryuale was not finished yet. He had left her to die alone, and she was not ready to die just yet. She gripped her wound and tried to stop the bleeding, but already she was weak. Her head ached and a chill began to take over. She became sleepy and her depression was helping the death seep up on her. Then she bit her lip in frustration that such a power as she could end this way, and screamed into the darkness...an angry and resentful scream that she who was once great would be subject to such as this on the battlefield. She forced herself up and stumbled through the dark...hoping to make it to her lair in time to save herself. |

Anarrima
She gathered up her strength and moved on, following the trial that the army had taken, begin flanked by Ruby and Wyrd. As quietly as an elven lady could creep, she crept and listened...watching and hoping. The three of them made their way down into the 6th level of the caverns and began to see the dead grimlocks from the effects of the spell that the male elf must have cast when he saw his chance for the attack. Nowhere to be seen was the elf, nor the statues...nor the demon that led them. They continued on, quietly as possible. |

A loud scream, the drawing of blood, and the giants fled into their shadows, leaving the defeated snake-woman to cower, as she picked herself up and began travelling he fell into a light step behind her, she was slowing, the blood loss obviously affecting her, closing his eyes he stepped into the "light" and spoke "Euryale, I have reason to beleive we may be allies." Waiting for an attack he pulled out a minor healing potion, and set it on the ground between himself and her, backing up and listening for any sign of attack. " All I want from you is an ally that won't turn on me until after the battle, and the statues of any elves that may survive the giants handling. Their equipment is yours to keep, it was won fairly, you know where the giants lair, and I need that knowledge, I would prefer if we didn't have to fight each other to get what we want, but I am prepared if you don't want to do this the easy way." That said he bared enough of the blade to get his point across, and listened to try to discover if she was going to try and attack him or talk. |

The ward complete, she watches the valley below, running options through her head as her watchful eyes catch movement... movement not in a sense of seeing the actual cause, but in seeing a change in the ground, the grass.... her eyes follow the decay and notice that it has come to a standstill for the moment and she thoughtfully fingers the clasp, the realization of an idea proved true for the moment.
Pulling a particular rune from her cloak, she sets it in front of her eyes and begins to scan for the perfect place in the ley lines to perform that which is her only option................. |
