Raymond

Raymond walked along the road for a while, pondering his future. He had been told that marriage was here for the taking, but at the result of a vow, made long ago. She really didn't want him as a husband. One could see it in her eyes, as she was saddened that she slipped and allowed him to see her face. And what a fine face it was! Simple and lovely. Yet, she didn't even know him,and her rash decision years ago has come to haunt her tonight. She would not be happy with him. They were trqvelling together, out of protection to one another and to keep one another company on this long, seemingly endless road that they travelled.

It was then that Raymond heard a strange noise. He decided that it had been a twig breaking under foot of one who trampled it. Looking around, he thought to see Isaura...coming out to tell him that she was not going to marry him. He realized that the tent was in the other direction, though. Something else was out there. Cold fear swept across his body, and he began to walk backwards toward the tent...not daring to divert his eyes from the shadows that he now faced, searching for a trespasser.

When he reached the tent, he politely, nervously asked if he could be let in. She agreed, and he entered, still facing the shadows, still a bit afraid, but glad to be back at the tent, with another real person.

Isaura

The haunted look in his eyes distracts her from her uneasiness ~ "What is it, Raymond?" ~ It is obvious that an external source has disturbed him, or he would be that mixture of endearing embarassment and hesitation ~ "Is there something out there? Speak."

Her hand reaches to the scabbard and unsheaths a gleaming dagger.

Scurrying into the hole, the party enters it and closes the door softly just a swooping movement heads for the bushes directly in front of it.

Groping in the dark, the companions feel a gush of wind once again blowing towards them. There is a faint musty smell, and save for the occasional eerie moans of the wind, there is complete silence.

"Does someone have a light?" ~ Sorsha's gentle voice floats around.

"Well, I don't."... "don't... don't... don't..." ~ Grimacing, Eliza realises in contrast, her louder response is echoing all over whatever it is that they are in.
