Worked for me when I first started out. I just cast 10 at him right off, then when he starts to heal himself, I cast 5 more. Unfortunately, you either have to stock up on the wands, or get the one in Shadowkeeper which has over 100 charges anyway.

If you have a high enough level mage, you can cast summon planner. It doesn't get thrown by the wing buffets, and the fireballs don't seem to faze it either. This added to a couple of tanks works really well.

i never find dragons too hard. all i did for firkraag was put my three fighters up front (monk, minsc, and like either valygar or that paladin) the my mages to the side. they both cast lower resistance, then do it again. both have some kind of fire protectoin, and by the time that happens my fighters are back

All I,ve ever done is summon some animals/creatures, launch a breach or two and lower resistance. Send in the tanks and keep hammering away. Level up if necessary.
I guess that would be the MC Hammer guide to killing dragons the legit way.
Too legit
Too legit to quit Heey hey

Please tell me how to get summon planner and what type of planning does he do? Sounds to me like you sit back and he plans the fight for you, talk about a great idea! hehe

A planetar can, if asked to, kill a dragon by themselves. They do however become incompacitated by a dragon's wing buffet, but are extremely resistant to magic, with seemingly high saving thows. This allows them to shrug off magic attacks.

Planetars are nice indeed.

OH OH! they may become hostile toward you if they are caught in an area effect spell, though undamaged by the spell.

In my opinion dragons are quite easy if you use the following strategy:

1. Cast magic resistance with your lowest cleric. This will give the dragon magic resistance of about 15 - 20% and isnīt considere hostile so he wonīt turn red.
2. Simultaneously cast your best mind influencing spells at him like feeblemind (ST -2), chaos (ST -4) etc. - in my experience 1 out of 3 gets through.
3. Hack him into pieces.
4. Loot ...

Using this strat you just need about 4 spells to kill a dragon - itīs up to you if you consider this cheesy ...
