yeah - i've encountered people who were designing similar classes for a variety of campaigns based (though, mostly middle-earth based) on the noldorian smiths of the 2nd age - just out of curiosity, what system were you using? D&D? most of the things i've seen were for rolemaster, which is my favorite rpg system

lol - i remember that game - it was always a shame we never got to play it seriously... always ended up being a one-night "power" session

This may be rather cynical of me, but...
it seems you have just lifted most of the weapons and stuff, as well as the basic idea from Arcanum. If no-one has heard of that game, its a strange RPG from Troika, set in a Victorian style world, where magic and technology are in conflict. Its a pretty good game, and very versatile, but just isn't as good as BGII (or 1 for that matter) Lucifer, tell me it ain't so!
