if you take Vi's ship, there's at least 3 NPCs with more dialog. Nothing to write home about though.
but what I'd like to know is how to change character order in Wiz7 (or 8). I am partial to having my Ranger green and front guys red and purple. I've been rearranging with an editor. Ziggurat: not sure what you mean by losing levels. Krull: primary attributes are also higher for imported characters (and you still get your 6pts/level for the free 5 levels) too bad you can't import a gadgeteer though, have to class switch or recycle to get one |

Babar -
By losing levels I meant I had to advance through other professions to get to the ones I wanted. I didn't want to keep the import profs (see above, too narrow). So my Elf monk had to go 4 levels to become a ranger to use the Elven Bow. I had no mage stuff and wanted a samurai as well as a bishop. Just my preference in game party. The comment about gadgeteer is valid. Changing order of who goes first is easy in Wiz 7, you click their names and move them. Can't do this in Wiz 8. Whoever is first at the top of the screen is fastest. Must admit, I now like having the bishop first so he can do his stuff (normally like to put heavy magick guys last). Another note or three - This party, although hampered in development choices to use the good stuff, is much better overall in combat for the level they are at. You start out with some stealth all over, some combat skills too, and other stats. Just took out the Don at lev 11-13 (the only 13 was the slow Dracon rogue on Superman). I had to wait much later (OK, at least 14 or 15) with earlier games. Big scrunch!, no prob with goons, etc., later. I wiped them all out. Will have to wait to get Portal, tho. Bish is at lev 8. I don't always have a bishop, especially with a 6-person party. I got so spoiled on quartets and faster promotion it is a contrast to play it this way.

Thanks for the moving tip. I will have to try it.
Did you know if you start a new party in wiz7 and import it, you still get your free 5 levels. you don't have do anything, but you are stuck starting at the monastery (I guess some people like starting with umpani or trang). the other downside is you don't get all the free skill points a more experienced character gets or any good items that may import. You also may have a tough time rolling up high bonus requirement characters like dwarf monks or lizard bishops to import. of course if you really wanted you could use a wiz7 editor prior to importing. I have a bunch of Wiz7 guys that had lots of class changing. I like to zero out their obsolete skills because the clutter is a little annoying to me (e.g. zero an imported bishop's sword skill). |

Update - Lev 12 except rogue at 14. Combat is easier overall, perhaps due to better starting armor and a few better weapons...but it seems more than that. Maybe it's the extra stealth. Also, have focused on Dracon getting faster, picked up some ankhs, COC, Dread Spear, one Cloaca of Many Colors. Still not too close to getting Portal. Feel we need to get this before Bayjin, etc. Maybe will clear out unknown section of Umpani to lev up. Decided not to do Mountain Wilderness 'til get Elemental Shield. A nice change (except for slow advancement).
Edit: had used "overall" three times. Call me aesthetic. [ 01-31-2005, 09:15 PM: Message edited by: Ziggurat ]

Aesthetic? Not to mention a bit comic... A Cloaca of Many Colours sounds like probably a baboon! LOL!

Zig: that switching characters thing works. I swear I tried it before and even remember getting the 'who' thing (which I know you also get for doing other things) and couldn't get it work. would have saved a lot of time if I weren't such an idiot.
okay before I start making some cloaca jokes, does anyone remember if there was a gender switching artifact in Wiz7? |

I think even the brightest of us can be idiots. Sometimes. Good thing we have places like IronWorks for a forum.

Other other notes -
You can change professions as well as order just before you finish Wiz 7 to get an import party for Wiz 8. There are drawbacks, at least when I tried it tonight: Lost some of the Chainmail +1 and other good stuff because switched profs, but this may have been due to fact I didn't re-equip before finishing Wiz 7. For example, switched a ninja to a valkerie so should have given her good mail or armor. You start out with the professions you want but lose cross-over skills like a thief being able to heal at lev 1 (or a Lord with 20 stealth to start). May still be worth trying out. The original save seem to be better than the new fixed order and professions, except that I just finished the lower and upper monastery without resting once. Hmm, maybe there are some advantages to planning ahead before importing. Edit: got to Arnika without resting, too. Kept party at lev 5 instead of 6, tho [ 02-09-2005, 06:58 PM: Message edited by: Ziggurat ]
