Of Lord or Monk, Lord probably. Monks are great fun, and I've played and enjoyed them lots. In that party, though, if you want the Gadgeteer and Ranger to be in back (the better to use their ranged skills) then the Monk's stealth will mean that your Samurai will get targeted all the time. Better to have a Lord who can not only take a share of the punishment but regenerate/heal it away.
