I remember a discussion on this board about the effectiveness of protection spells.
From the manual I know that those spell should only inrease the duration and not the power. I am currently running a party with no magic-users so my only protection against missiles is the Missile Shield Scroll Lvl.3 . I'm in the Rapax Castle and believe me that scroll is nearly useless now. My earlier parties with Missile Shield Lvl 7 had a much better protection in the same area .

But hey, maybe that's only an illusion .

Greetings

When you right-click on the spells, you get a description. In some cases, there is stated that the spell only increases in duration, not effect. This is true IIRC for bless, detect secrets and x-ray. For the other spells, the effect depends on the power level.

unfortunately, loudhy, the manual is a bit thin on the details. wearboar and dracon fighter are both correct that the best reference is the in-game help when clicking on a spell. once they mentioned it, i recalled the same advice from some time ago.

it's funny how you can learn something and forget how.

your experience with missile shield 3 in the rift is a great example of exactly how it power level really works, in spite of the manual documentation.
