personally, i really like hybrids. us the recast of knock knock or divine trap to get magic up (see hints section). but if your starting off, definatly stick with pure casters. take at least 2. get a bard or a gadjeteer to get some misc. magic. try to get all spellbooks covered. your missing out on good spells if you skip one. finally, get a fighter, lord or valkerie. they make great pack mules and awsome fighters. try and experiment.

i have to admit, rez, i was really down on hybrids as a result of the critical strike testing.

however, this magic-heavy party i'm running makes me reconsider. mass attacks add up so quickly that, if you could get your sam or monk into a real power caster, you'd have a huge advantage. i've struggled to develop good casting on my hybrids, but this makes me wonder if i should try harder

perhaps CT and others were on to something when they kept pushing hybrid casters... forgive me, i'm a slow learner!

In my last Magic-Heavy party that used a Ranger, I made him a Power Ranger, going for Powercast and Eagle Eye before anything else. It took until level 15 to get both, and he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at ten feet.

After getting it, however, with Dexterity and Eagle Eye going up 3 every level-up, Senses already at 100, plus usage increases in Eagle Eye, effectiveness rapidly improved, with a noticable jump at every level.

Rezdude, yes Hybrids all, if their Magic Skills are high enough then, get Level Seven Spells by Level 22. However, they cannot cast them on Power Level 7 at that time. It is at some higher Level, like 28 or 29, when they will be able to cast their Level 7 Spells in the green at Power Level 7.

I know, it's confusing sometimes between the Level of a Spell and the Power Level used when casting it.

i noticed that when i saved some picks for asphixiation, concussuion and nuclear blast. yeah they were quite weak but i didnt care at that point. my pure castors were still doing great and my hybrids were used more on the defence (enchanted blade, missile shield, element sheild, detect secrets- not really, and x-ray). sometimes brute strength is a good replacement for offencive magic in hybrids.

well i like guys who can turn tables and can critical strike. i also like magic users.the party is new. (im not used to using a party thats not altered, which by the way is fun, but never alter your party because it only lets you go so far.)

thats deffinatly the department for samuris or rangers. Ninjas are also a good idea but level up slowly. maybe thats because they are one of the most extendible proffessions. personally, i enjoyed working with a samuari but its up to you. Samuarais, ninjas, and monks can help with critical strike plus rangers will do well to. the divine spellbook should be covered by a pure caster diffinitivly, but thats just my opinion. experiment till you find somthing good.
