You might want to add a link to the web site mentioned in the signature below.

Vap, I think what you are doing is an excellent idea. Too many good games have gone by the wayside as time moves forward. For example, eventually BG1 will be forgotten and the tons of material concerning the game will be harder and harder to find. One thing I like about IW is that they have archived some games such as Darkstone and Wizards&Warriors. But not all games are this fortunant. I thought Nox was an enjoyable little game (it sold quite well) and not nearly as redundant as Diablo, but try finding a good website concerning it now. Won't happen. I hope your website will be one that covers every aspect of the game. By what you wrote I think you'll do that. Sounds like it is definitly a labor of love.

^Agreed.
I save the best hints, tips, maps etc for the games I really like. Sometimes I use an html editor to consolidate the info and make the files I saved smaller by taking off banners, etc.. Plus, I'm a compulsive maker of quest checklists, etc. and I save them all. A year down the road a lot of the game sites have gone by the wayside, and it's very frustrating when you're replaying (which I often do), and you can't find that great quest guide or spell list anywhere. If my hard drive gets too full, I archive to a zip drive. Forgot to add links. LOL! You already have a link to Jandrall's site, so here are some others: Annotated maps http://wiz8.rpg-guide.com/walk.shtml Avenstar's http://www.geocities.com/shau185/index.html MindFlay's http://users.bigpond.net.au/easymoney/menu-weapon.html RPG Guides http://wiz8.rpg-guide.com/ Page with links: http://www.geocities.com/shau185/links.html Wizardry Realms: http://www.wizardryrealms.com/ Spydah's Wizardry 8 database: http://www.spydah.com/games/wiz8/ [ 09-18-2002, 12:47 PM: Message edited by: Rhea ] |

Wow, Rhea, I think that is so awsome the way you can consolidate that information from various sites. I, too, get very frustrated when thses sites disappear. The only reason I think BG1 is still found in vast quantities on the web is because it it is still viable. There are people now playing it for the first time which means the game is still selling.
Where did you learn to do a HTML editor? Also, have you ever successfully transferred the information to a CD disk? I can just imagine having all this information stored and then something causes your harddrive to crash. |

![]() I've been doing this since the second I figured out how to save a web page. Front Page Express is available for free from Microsoft and it will let you do the basics of editing without having to learn all the fancy stuff (in other words, it's good enough for cut and paste stuff). I'm running on an old machine at home, so no CD burner. Just that old standard, a ZIP drive. But they make good backups - shoot, my critical stuff at work goes onto zips too. Oh, this makes me feel old ![]() And I don't save EVERY game's hints - there are some (like :cough: Pool of Radiance) that I hope never to see again. But the hints and tips for the really good RPGS, like the BGs, Planescape, the MMs, Wiz, I keep. [ 09-18-2002, 03:33 PM: Message edited by: Rhea ] |
