But Saxx and Madras are worse. With engeneering or music is reduced to 80, they suddenly can't cast the best spells anymore. |

There is also the Rapax war-mage in the rift. In my first run through, I didn't force Vi and Madras into the rift, so i picked up the war-mage for a while.
So in a party with no pure rogue class, who do you typically use for pick pockets and open locks. I've been using Myles cause none of my current characters are good at locks - but I can't stand the effiminate noob. BB |

My first few times through, I tried a lot of them, and didn't really like any of them except RFS-81. In fact, I would have *loved* to kill Myles (some characters just beg to be offed), but didn't want the Higardi mad at me.
![]() I stopped using any of the NPCs because they eat up XP. |

when I reach arnika, I pick Myles and Vi. when i reach tyrnton I throw myles and pick madras. when I reach swamp I throw madras and get RFS-1. so that's it.
I even drag along vi into rapax area, byajin etc. I just love to hear her say, " now how did we end up here...... " |

Gadgeteer is first choice, since he hasn't many skills to develop (no melee at all). Bard is second for me, since i want to make him a good bow user. Ninja is worse, since he has that many other skills to concentrate on. If you use ninja for lockpicking, train a lot in the early game with traps. Then there is the possibility to swap a character to a rogue for one level. Some people do this for stealth training. With my fighter-bishop duo, i did this too, and trained with burz' chest until i had some rogue skills before switching back. My current party (5 pure spellcasters) has nobody with this ability. So i equip the cap you find in lower monastary, and a thief shield, for a total skill of 20. And then its time for some knock-konck or devine trap. |

@Rhea: Killing Myles doesn't make you hostile with the Higardi, so have fun *grin*
