If you can do it fast enough (first round), you can use Siren's Wail or Insanity to drive her nuts. Unlike most critters, it only lasts for a couple of rounds, though ( think it's 2 - I had my Bard playing Siren's Wail every other round and Piercing Pipes on the other rounds). I found that out in a most unfortunate way the first time I fought her.

But those couple of rounds buy you time to follow through with buffing spells and summon elementals, etc.

I've beaten her every time - but I've never done it by closing in for melee, which is my usual style, but by letting the Elemental(s) rush her and hanging back with missiles and offensive spells and just pounding away at her.

Good luck!

First of all. If you're too low a level to take Nessie out, just because you enter battle doens't mean you have to fight the beast. You can still run during combat.

I've never done well with magic towards nessie.. My second time run through the game, I was level 12 when I took her out. Superman potion/spell is a must, or your melee fighters won't be able to hit her.. I summoned an elemental (hp: 400) which died before it could land 1 single successful strike.

I'd try and paralyze, or knock the beast unconscious, if you manage that, you've already won.

Another tough battle at lvl 11/12 is Don Borleone.. but all these monsters CAN be defeated seeing as they're just 1 monster.

Hi,

Nessie`s a hard fight, but shouldn`t be a problem... I defeated her yesterday with a lvl 12-13 party (Fighter-Ranger-Bishop-Bishop-Gadgeteer-Bard + RFS-81) on expert difficulty without losing a char.

Keywords: Superman + Element shield

This is how I did it...
Get as close as possible without her noticing you (chameleon)... start combat yourself, so you get 1 free round.
Make sure one of your chars gets of an offensive action or spell so Nessie notices you.
Get Soul + Element shield on + get all of your melee chars to take superman potions. You should of course have all protective spells up and running anytime.

Second round run up to Nessie - this is the first round she can attack, but with all defenses up, even an eartquake didn`t kill a single char.

With superman you should be hitting her quite easily... bishops and bard kept casting Heal all and rest all every other round.

I found offensive magic pretty useless... might help on lower difficulty, but on expert, they have 0 result (only armormelt has effect). I tried all condition spells on level 7 (insanity,hex,sleep,web...), no effect.

You can cast some elementals, but there nothing more than a small distraction for Nessie.

It took me 23 rounds (she casted body of stone), but you don`t get +150000 XP/char for nothing.
If you have more melee power than me, it should go faster... but I like my party as it is.
I add RPC`s for extra melee power... expert all the way baby.

Signed,
One sick Psycho

I found Nessie at level 14-16. Only NPC was RFS-81 since Madras ditched us in the sea caves. Running a Mage, Priest, Samuri, Valk, Bard, and Ranger. Died a little slower each time (darn Valk keeps cheating death and gets lonely...). 3rd time, I finally buffed enough Chameleons to get close enough and cast a top level Summon Elemental and Elemental Shield, quaffed Superman Potions. Charged to melee combat and each round after that cast Rest All and Heal All. Won. Unfortumately - no Excalibur...

To get Excaliber sword surely, you must check Davy Johnes locker several times, and need to reload saved files before entering Bajin shallows area. So You must to check the locker without fighting NESSIE. You take the way to west and proceed anticlockwise direction along wall to the cave with locker. When you are detected by Nessie, you must run to the cave. Perhaps you shall be attacked twice or so, but you could reach the cave alive. My party is 12 level, and I reload 6 times, then get Excaliber sword.

At level 14, I did Nessie with one draining cloud. She went limp.I moved in with close weapons and it was sushi time. Maybe ther's a glitch in here with the draining cloud.

many times have i killed Nessie from afar with archery. With all shields on, forsooth. There are 2 tunnel mouths where she can't get close enough to melee you. It takes many arrows, indeed, and you will have to use the reloading trick if you don't want to waste every 3d round in the inventory. Just put many bundles in your shooter's inv.
This method has worked with 5 L. 11 Rangers with avg 80 bow skill, high Speed, triple xbows and a Gad using bolts. (lightning, i think, from Crock)
