It is not vitally important to meet the Dark One but it does make a certain quest much easier.
Of curse it is impotant to meet the guy an you will because you need the "Fake Astral Dominae" to get the "Chaos Molari" later on in the game  )Without killing all the Mook pouple! And that is the only way to get it i think!And you can meet him all over the Swamp i meet him at the Crock`s house and i have meeting him at the way to to Bayjin.. so hi is all over the place and i meet him before i meet Don Barlone in Trynton.
