I really do not think the Staff of Doom's damage is 1hp per second but rather 1hp per round. It can be compensated by the the Robes of Rejuvanation or the fairly common Amulet of Health.

You can equip and use an off-hand blade when using a cursed weapon in the first. My lord uses Berserker + Poison Dagger (also cursed).

Normally I ´would have given Berserker to my Samurai, but since the lord already had a cursed weapon in the off-hand and couldn't swap anyway,...
