Following are 2 clips from the SirTech Official Gamplay Issues Forum

.................................................. .............

From Linda, the Game Goddess:

Admittedly a roving mouse sounds like a strange problem, vs. the more typical slow mouse... which is usually caused by a lousy framerate... which is usually caused by drivers. If you have not updated your sound and video drivers since purchasing Wiz 8, please make sure to do so.

Based on Linda's suggestion that this is a framerate issue, this is research done by Akarra, over on the Official Sir-Tech Gameplay/Issues Board:

Okay, after doing some intense testing with various things I found out how to fix the sluggish/lag floating mouse cursor. If your mouse cursor seems sluggish then you are running in too high of a resolution/color depth. Check the table below (as a guide) based off of my PC specs. I'm not going to list every single resolution in the setup but this is just to give you an idea of how my PS/2 mouse and USB mouse is affected in the DirectX7 mode.

PIII 667Mhz
384MB RAM
Voodoo5 5500 AGP Video card w/ 64MB

PS/2 Mouse:
640x480x16 == Mouse cursor works perfect!
800x600x16 == Mouse cursor works perfect!
1024x768x16 == Mouse cursor is almost perfect.
1280x1024x16 == Mouse cursor is smooth, but sluggish.
1600x1200x16 == Mouse cursor is smooth, but sluggish.
640x480x32 == Mouse cursor works perfect!
800x600x32 == Mouse cursor is almost perfect.
1024x768x32 == Mouse cursor is smooth, but sluggish.
1280x1024x32 == Mouse cursor is smooth, but sluggish.
1600x1200x32 == Mouse cursor is jerky and very sluggish.

If you are using a USB mouse then you should be one step above this table. For example, on my PC running in 1024x768x16 using a USB mouse, the cursor works perfect. I hope this helps =)

there are other solutions, as sometimes it is ALL OF YOUR DRIVERS IN COMBINATION (not just mouse drivers, as many first suspect) or your memory allocation. if the above doesn't work for you, you really owe it to yourself to go the SirTech Official Gamplay Issues Forum

Unnfortounatly for me it is niehter of these things.

Unless the engine has problems with AMD chips.

Im running an AMD Athlon xp 1800+ at 1.53 GHZ with 512MB ddr PC-2100 memory

sound is SB live value (failry old but i can keep up with every other game ive ever played)

Vid card is Herclues prophet 4500 64 meg. with the latest drivers installed. I run Half-life constantly at 99 fps in 1024x768x32. I run diabloII at 70-80 fps constantly with no mouse problems, in direct 3d mode. both of these games should sreve as a reference.

however...none of these render large outdoor enviornments.

Duex ex does. and runs at 1024x768x32 very fast, with no mouse slow down, and the draw distance 3x greater than wiz8.

Hell Ghost Recon doesnt run that slow in 1024x768x32 with FSAA on. and GR is a HOGG.

i can get max payne to be 60 fps constant with fsaa,

maybe its DX7, but from what i can tell, as all of my stuff is updated, and will run most games at the upmost of their potential, no matter what they are doing.

and on that note i changed in OGL instead of DX 7 and it it much better. But texture copression is also now on so ite may be that.

I would still like to be able to chance the mouse sensitivity(if i can i havent found it)

Hmm, I'm having mouse issues to, but, not of the sluggish variety. Though, I've got a fairly weak machine and that might be it. I'm running on a p2 450 with 384 MB RAM and a GeForce2 GTS 64 MB. My mouse is a USB Optical(MS Explorer) and when I run Wiz8, My mouse will ocassionally jump to the bottom right of the screen and be unresponsive there for a few seconds. It can be annoying but, I can deal with it.
