Well, G, if it's any consolation, the hibernate is just a really deep jedi meditation known as a "trance." The vanish thing isn't something that most Jedi can do. It's actually a skill used by a group of Force users who follow the "White Path" or something like that. To make myself dorky I will not give innane details about this, or what book it comes from.

...And a force shield is possible, though I wouldn't call it a "force field," really.

There is "bursts of speed" which are sort of "superman moves."
