System Shock 2 is a hell of a lot scarier than RE...

But this movie, is a sequel to a BAD movie. Following logic, it must be WORSE!

Let's find out...

The movie was.

The game was definitely some top shelf Mexican Tar Heroin, as far as games go.

The movie, well, it was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who could take a budget big enough to buy Tahiti, a cast as talented as the Mercury Theatre Players, a crew as talented as Griffith's production designers, complete with the CGI wizards from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, a script so good, it just oozes *classic* upon anyone who dare touches it, and a production team of Ben Hur's caliber, and...Well he could take all that, and still come up with crap. Not ordinary, every day crap, or even turgid, overblown crap ala Francis Ford Coppola, but a movie bad in a way that got Pier Paolo Pasolini killed, that keeps John Milius from ever directing again. John Milius might not be directing because he's a Conservative operating in the Hollywood system...But that's another discussion.

Where was I? Oh yes, Anderson is a terrible director, without any shadow of a doubt. He has yet to produce a single film in his ouvre which wasn't lousy, cheap, exploitative, inept and downright insulting to the word film all at the same time, entirely throughout.

When you go see that kind of movie, you don't go for the story or actor's play.

Luvian, the story and atmosphere are what I went for when I played Resident Evil, and I got a hell of a lot out of every RE game I've played for that reason. On the other hand, Paul WS Anderson (who should change his name so that he doesn't get mysteriously associated with Paul Thomas Anderson) dispensed with experimental narrative, innovative storytelling and good atmospheric effect for cheap action thrills. Wrong director, wrong movie...
