And before anyone comes back to mention the other song I referred to - Tainted Love was originally recorded by Gloria Jones in 1964.

I am more into 60s music than 80s music
I never new Tainted love was not an original !!

I will try and track it down thanks Epona. BTW I love 60's music but the only ones you hear are the cliched played to death classics.

Final Score: 29.25
I am happy with that considering I was born in 1986...
I only know what I picked up every once and a while.

Marilyn Manson does my favorite version of Tainted Love.

Oh, in case they were serious questions:
"Just say no" was Nancy Reagan's antidrug campaign. A truly lovely lady.
Church Lady was a character Dana Carvey did on Saturday Night Live. That's the ticket.

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane -
Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn -
world serves its own needs, don't misserve your own needs. Feed it up a knock,
speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height,
down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for
hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies
breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered
crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population,
common group, but it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its
own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the
reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright
light, feeling pretty psyched.

Just beacuse.

Wellard - do try to get hold of the original of Tainted Love, it's a bit of a soul classic, although surprisingly not that well known. Incidentally Gloria Jones was Marc Bolan's girlfriend and was driving the car when he died - she survived the crash.

Timber - I too like Marilyn Manson's version of the song. Those outside England may not know that 'Just Say No' was an anti-drugs song recorded by the cast of Grange Hill - a very popular and long-running kid's soap that tackled issues of the day such as teenage pregnancy, drugs, bullying, that sort of thing. We would immediately link the slogan with that song rather than Nancy Reagan.

Well I got a 70 on this test. Not a bad test, but I obviously had a huge disadvantage on hair metal and Kiss-like bands, as I tend to avoid them.

Still, nice to get a respectable score as I consider myself an 80's buff, especially lesser-known bands like China Crisis, Blancmange, and The Fixx. Not to take away from the popular bands either--my favorite band is easily Depeche Mode.

Cant say I like Marilyn Manson's covers...I hate his music...The only real covers I like that are newer music are those by Apoptygma Berzerk. (Fade to Black and Nothing Else Matters)

Oh, and well met everybody. I lurked here the last couple days, looks like a real solid community.

Really, serious questions.

Didn't have a clue to what those two referred to.

Still don't fully understand what the second one is (Dana Carvey??).

At least now I have some idea of where to put them in the timeline of the last century
