Or.... go to a matinee and stay all day.

X-Men 2: 7/10 -- SUPPORT MUTANT REGISTRATION!
Matrix 2: 8.5/10 -- THERE IS A SPOON!!

Matrix gets much deeper than the already deep thoughts posed in Matrix 1. The plot will actually get your head spinning a bit. The symbolism is rampant. And, what's not to like about a modified sci-fi Jesus tale with a little bit of philosophy and quantum mechanics sprinkled about?

I'd give the matrix 3-4/10.

Repetitive actions sequences and fluffy 'bite-sized' philosophy... *shrusg* I just failed to be impressed - thje first one was much better.

I give matrix reloaded 5/10

Too much bad kung fu.

Too much " are we destined to do this" talk.

Not enough cool stuff. The freeway fight scene was nice... not much else.

The tribe in the cave scene made me want to root for the machines definitely.

Honestly, the matrix is just a rip off of the terminator story in its core. A lot less believable also.

In my opinion it was one of the best action/sci-fi movies I've seen but I didn't find it as satisfying as the original.

SPOILERS:

Morpheus talking like the Sphinx. The speech at the Temple of Zion completely did not make sense and did not provide a logical reason why the people should panic. He might as well have said 'Hey, lets dance!'.

Lotsa Sexual content. Rave scene looked like a Ricky Martin video and the Neo/Trinity love scene looked a bit too real. And was the whole chocolate cake scene really necessary?

Neo vs Agent Smith. Didn't live up too the hype. Too hectic, too long and it was kind of superflous since Neo could have flown away from the beginning. Maybe he wanted to impress Trinity.

IMHO the fight scene at the Merovingian's chateau was the best fight scene. Unlike the Agent Smith scene it was less hectic so you could really admire the fantastic choreography.

Car chase was just beautiful. Everything came together well. At 14 minutes it was neither too long nor too short.

END SPOILER

Anyway, its a great movie so go see it. And make sure you wait until the credits are over so you can see the preview for Revolutions.

A philosophical sound-bite is designed to make you think, which is why the most important Zen lessons are in koans; people misinterpret these as "fortune cookie philosophy".

The cave speech was to motivate the people to not give up hope in the face of danger...but yes, it was a little hokey.

How do you propose to stop Smith by flying away all the time?

It wasn't the actual 'size' of the philosophy in question I was criticising - it was the content. By 'bite-sized' I meant 'easily digestible by the lowest common denominator'. One or two unoriginal philosophical concepts thrown in to make it seem like a 'thinking-man's' action movie. In essence, it isn't. It's another kung-fu clone in a slightly more origial setting, to a more interesting backdrop.

When I see people telling me that it was "deep", I have to differ. I get the sincere feeling that the little ideas about control and choice, etc, were designed to make it seem like more than it was.

That said - any move which gets the general public thinking has my repect. It just didn't bring up any new questions in *my* mind, hence my cuurent opinon of it.

How better than "bite-sized" and "easily digestible" to phrase a philosophy so that more people will understand it?

I challenge anyone to come up with an original philosophical concept that hasn't already been discovered during the last 5000 years of civilization.
To say that "Matrix: Reloaded" is another kung-fu clone is like saying "Blade Runner" was just another cop movie....

It's okay to differ. However, how do you know that you have free will or choice? Look at all the ways in which others control you in your daily life: work, friends, family, etc. We all allow others to control us in some ways, because a little control can be a good thing.

I wholeheartedly agree. Of course, most people went just to see some Agents get their butts kicked.
