Yeah, i thought Shannara was a LotR rip off as well. But then, it'd be pretty hard to write a fantasy novel without owing something to Tolkien.

So far haven't read that much, read lotr last year before I saw the movie and recently started with some Salvatore books. I do want to read more though.
