I loved the book, very well written. The movie..........is NOT the book.

The movie has as much in common with the book as the Lensman animation did to A. A. (Doc) Smith's series. In other words, they used the names, and the basic background, but threw the best stuff out with the garbage.

I can't stand the bloody movie. Whenever I see it I always wish for the main character to die, he just gets on my nerves SO much. Why do they have to kill off all of the characters that you can actually like and leave the bloody annoying ones alive? If I made that movie the bugs would have overrun the humans and slaughtered them all! Bwahahahahaha! Starting with the main character.

Yes, I did want the bugs to win in the end, but that never does happen. THey should make a movie where the human race gets extinct.

Oh I loved Starship Troopers! Its such a beefcake movie! Its really the kinda movie to watch with your buddies so you can all go "DO YOU WANNA LIVE FOREVER??!!" together
Its really high up on my ultimate guy movies list.. its corny, action packed, has heaps of babes and big powerful guns and tattoos!! Gotta love the scene when they all get the "Kill Em All" tattoo.. makes me wanna "do my part" [img]smile.gif[/img]

I expected that one from IW premier thri-kreen advocate I love the critters too, should have left the redhead, and eaten denise richards

I rather liked the movie, although it's not all that good. Entertaining, but you don't want to think about it too much [img]smile.gif[/img]

I only enjoyed the movie from a "camp" point of view. Kind the same way I enjoy the old Batman TV series. My two favorite parts were (#2) seeing Doogie Howser dressed up like a Nazi and (#1) the "Do you want to know more?" web site thing. Wasn't this directed by the guy who did Robocop? They did the same kind of thing with the fake TV commercials (Nuke-em: Another quality home game from Butler Brothers; The Heart Clinic: "We carry the complete Jarvik line"; and of course the 6000 SUX)

The book (of course) was a lot better. It won the Hugo when it came out.

Heeheehee! Starship Troopers! It just made me laugh out sooooo loud every time something happened... anything at all...

The pilot of that ship and the navigator co-star are having an intimate tete-a-tete on the bridge... and suddenly a siren goes off and there's this GIGANTIC rock in the way... HUGE... the kind of rock you'd see a mile off... and none of the other ships in this vast fleet even bothers to tell them 'Guys? You're gonna hit that rock!'...

And then there's the initial landing, and it takes the loss of two huge troopships to this weird plasma discharge for the humans to actually realise they're under attack...

And THEN - the one defining moment for me - the infantry touch down on the planet's surface and stream out, yelling YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! in huge waves! I mean, if some bugs were actually in FRONT of them, they'd get slaughtered! No-one behind the first line of infantry can open fire without a good chance of mowing down his friend! And then - THEN - after a good minute's running and YAAAAAAAAAAAGHing, the army as a whole seems to go 'SHHH!' and tries to creep up on a Bug artillery unit! AND THEY DO IT!

Very, very funny film from the point of view that the director was just having a great time making this insane movie. You can't take it seriously at all, but it has that in its' favour.
