that is just really really sad, I was looking forward to borrowing them from a friend of mine... oh well, maybe the first few are worth reading for fun...

LOL!!! along with a GGGGRRRRROOOOAAAANNNNN!!!! That is just plain bad, aweful, putrid - oh there aren't enough of these adjectives in Roget's Thesarus to describe Gygax's writing. That was terrible! Perhaps Gord is seepage from Gygax's inner psych. You know, his meglomania rising out through ink and paper.

If memory serves me well, this is the same man that bemoaned the state of AD&D through all the power gaming that was going on. He would write how wonderful it was, as well as fortunat, for a group of hardy adventurers to come upon 50 pieces of silver. Or, how there must be balance in the game and monty hauls just destroy the whole concept (and I got to admit, it does destroy the concept). The problem is Gord the Rogue IS monty haul on two legs! Thanks for taking the time, Memnoch. I didn't end up wasting any money so the spoilers are much appreciated. By the way, just how does Dance with Demons end? Does Gord walk off into the sunset? Was there any hints of more to come? (oh, let's hope not!) Does he go after good with the same passion as he does evil? With all his powers does Gord just decide to wipe away all good and evil? Life is filled with so many unanswered questions!

Anyways, seems to me that this book could be shortened to "Gord and his friend kills everything". So much more efficient...

OK, how can I say this...

Gord, along with his sidekick Gellor and his girlfriend Leda, faces off with Tharizdun and loses. All three die horribly (Gary got quite descriptive here - when I have a bit more time I'll post some hilarious excerpts - they sound like something out of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre)

BUT just as Tharizdun was about to triumph he is imprisoned in a hell dimension by someone called Entropy, who is trapped with him for eternity.

The next (final) scene is about Gord and Leda's wedding and Gord becoming king of the Cat Realm and Gellor being his best man. Don't ask me how this happened because Gary didn't explain it - it just happened, just like that.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond, Memnoch, but I've been gone for 10 days or so. In regards to your last post I must first vomit and then scream, "YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING!?" That is just plain awful! Gygax is sooooo narcissistic that he probably thought it was a literary masterpiece. Where in the world were the editors on this one?!? Oh, wait, I get it. They'd print anything to get him moving on.
